286.1: The House-Sitting Clean up Aftermath
Cushions suddenly entering Jill’s line of sight was when her sense of unease first started. After two months, she was finally able to return to the house she shared with Hades in Lacia.
Due to the uprising against the Rave Empire, the La Baia Military Academy was destroyed. As the dormitories attached to it were naturally blown away as well, Jill was responsible for the students until simple accommodations for them could be prepared. Precisely because they were in such a situation, it had been decided that Jill would once more give lessons to the students. The following day, however, had been made into a day off.
Her husband had entirely fallen into a sulking mood during that time, and if she didn’t do something to cheer him up, it would likely cause problems in the future.
Although in truth, His Majesty really does know better…
He criticized Jill as having neglected him for two whole months, but she wanted to argue that he hadn’t properly looked after the house either.
In what world does the Rave Emperor join a rebellion for overthrowing the Rave Empire. How is that any different from a duck carrying green onions on its back and leaping into a pot?
The same had happened back at the bakery.
If he claims not to remember how angry he made me, then there’s no choice but to lash him once more with my whip.
Jill first and foremost always thought about Hades’ safety. For the very person himself to cast his body into danger was out of the question. However, in truth, when they were facing each other as enemies, Hades’ revenge and Jill’s reflection had already passed. This was something Hades should have understood.
Their meal had been prepared around Jill’s favorites, and it even included dessert. He sarcastically said, “Heh, you’re coming back today, heh,” but properly washed and laid out her nightwear. As Jill ate while saying, “So good, so good,” he turned his head while murmuring, “Fuun, it’s that good.” It was an act that could now be called cute.
That said, getting caught up in a quarrel due to handling the situation poorly would also be annoying. Here, I’ll do this and show that I by no means neglect him. While he’s in the bath, I’ll prepare him some of the hot milk I mastered during the training camp and force him to settle down. The declaration crossed her mind as she brought out the pot.
Her intuition told her this wasn’t a sense of unease that should be overlooked. Jill returned the pot to its original space on the shelf and approached the cushion in question. She noticed that belongings had considerably increased within the living room adjoining the kitchen. There was a vase on the shelf by the window. Beneath it was a lace cloth. Hanging on the back of the dining chair was a lap blanket. There were several other cushions as well.
The season they arrived in had still been quite hot. Now, the weather at night already required thick coats. Hades would have made changes to his living arrangements over the past two months, so an increase in possessions wasn’t strange.
The cushions in question had been arranged atop of a dresser. Upon picking one up and looking it over, Jill realized that true nature to her unease.
It’s the pattern.
Hades was very dexterous, capable even of sewing. He would accompany Jill during her assignments and even do the embroidery for her. However, voluntarily, he would only do mending and the bare minimum. As for embroidery, he only did it to the extent of adding small, cutely deformed flowers or animals to please her. He would never embroider such delicate and beautiful flowers like this.
Did he buy them? But this many?
Once she noticed one thing, she was overcome by unease. For example, there were flowers in the vase. Hades doing such a thing wasn’t impossible, he could have done it because Jill was returning home after a long while, but if that was the case, then they should have been placed upon the dining table instead of by the window.
The lace cloth underneath the vase, something that was clearly handmade, was also strange. Hades never did lacework out of worry Jill would snag it on something. What’s more, she couldn’t imagine him knitting anything for this house, a place that was meant to be nothing more than a temporary dwelling.
More over, this cushion, for some reason, it has a flower like scent. Could there be a sachet placed within it?
She buried her face into the cushion and, sun sun, sniffed to confirm the scent. It wasn’t the type of fragrance that Hades favored. He used perfumes with refreshing qualities like citrus or essential oils such as eucalyptus or lemongrass, both of which were useful for eliminating odors.
…Come to think of it, the soap when I entered the bath earlier was also handmade…
The floral fragrance it carried had caught her attention.
Having come this far, Jill was certain. The various objects brimming with wrongness in the house were not things Hades would prepared.
Then, just who— Although Jill was just about ready to make her conclusion, she decided to search through the house in order to further pursue the truth.
The matter of preparing hot milk was already forgotten.
