272.2: The Battle Maiden Wants to Study Abroad (35)
In short, a rebellion was being plotted. While there was no telling how many people would believe Gunter’s outcry, there was no denying that discontent toward the Rave Empire had been smoldering. Maybard should have been neat Gunter as well— What happened to him? There’s too little information right now.
For now, protecting the students was her top priority. Especially Lutiya, under no circumstances could he be allowed to fall into enemy hands. If a member of the Rave royal family were to be killed, Hades would be forced to decide on leading an assault on Leyca.
“Sensei, the enemy is retreating!”
“It could be a trap. Don’t chase them too far! For now, fall back—!”
The students’ excitement was blown away in a flash.
The dragons were nothing compared to this. The ground had been gouged out as though a line was being drawn and dust was still rising in the air. Jill, having blocked the shockwave with a barrier, gasped as she spotted a shadow within the smoke.
Him.
The reason the soldiers pulled back was to avoid being caught in his attack.
“Wh-what… was that…!? Such magic power…!?”
“Th-the ground, it-it cracked!”
The frightened students cried out. Some were so shaken, they had collapsed. Their morale was crushed in an instant. Jill clicked her tongue in frustration.
“I’ll handle this! Everyone, evacuate now!”
“Oh? You’ll be facing me?”
His voice sent a chill down Jill’s spine.
The rising smoke slowly began to clear. Dragons were no longer descending from the sky. It wasn’t because their rampage had stopped, but more because of an instinctual fear. They recognized that they were up against something they couldn’t fight, something they shouldn’t defy.
Their instincts were correct.
“Leave this place to me. Everyone, fall back.”
Although he didn’t seem to have any official title, he gave orders as though it were his right. Even the enemy fled, as though relieved they could escape, to be away from his overwhelming might.
Jill had been on guard, having sensed that someone extraordinary was involved. The truth was revealed by a strong gust of wind.
“Are you speechless from surprise? Still, I had a feeling, from the moment I decided to join the Liberation Army… I knew we might end up on opposing sides. I never wanted to have a sad reunion like this.”
His obsidian black hair swayed while his golden eyes were veiled by his long lashes. His languid, melancholic expression was incredibly beautiful, perfectly sculpted for him. The tip of his drawn sword gleamed in the blue sky.
“Now, let’s have a quick match, teacher with amethyst eyes.”
Jill’s husband, whom she hadn’t seen in two months, flashed a ridiculously handsome smile. She could hear the unmistakable sound of a blood vessel bursting in her head.
“You!!”
The world might have been wide, but society was narrow.
