50. The Goddess’ Revelation, Just or Not?
āHe came to deliver a greeting.
That boy, Elliot, he introduced himself as a Yuusha.Ā That would make him El Meidaās summoned hero and the person Lefille was instructed to travel with by the oracle.
āYouāre exactly as how the oracle described.Ā How about telling me your name?ā[1]
āI- Iām Lefille Graphis.ā
āLefille Graphis, is it?Ā Well then, Lefille-chan, please treat me well.ā
Elliot gives Lefille a smile while extending his white hand towards her.Ā Is his expression an endearing one or is it ā
āWell then, in accord with the Goddess Alshnaās oracle, letās get going.ā
āTh- Thatāsā¦.āĀ Lefille is bewildered.Ā Elliot acts as if the natural outcome from them meeting is her joining him.
Suimei steps forward and inserts himself between Elliot and Lefille.Ā āYou got a minute?ā
āYou are?ā
āIām her comrade, Suimei Yakagi.Ā You interrupted us with that sudden introduction, but⦠are you really the Yuusha?ā
Christa gets irritated at the question.Ā She goes to criticize his doubt, but Elliot cuts her off with his hand.Ā He says, āYour reservation is natural.Ā Iāve no doubt there are people whoād spout such lies.Ā However, Iām the real deal.Ā Christa and everyone here in the Twilight Pavilion will vouch for me.ā
āEveryone here?ā
āI helped subjugate some monsters not too long ago.Ā Iām pretty sure they understand what Iām capable of.āĀ Elliot surveys their surroundings at those words.Ā Many nod as his eyes pass over them.
That explains why everyone started murmuring earlier.Ā People are bound to start talking if the Yuusha openly addresses a stranger.
Though, something feels off to Suimei.Ā Every time Elliot speaks, his words seem disconnected.Ā What does this mean?Ā Suimei is familiar with most of his worldās languages, so as long as he pays attention, he should be able to recognize the one being used even if it is being magically translated.Ā Since he canāt, that means that the youth before him wasnāt summoned from the same world as him.Ā What does that imply about his claims of being the Yuusha?
Lefille makes a grim expression.Ā āā¦..Suimei-kun, he also matches the description I received from the oracle.Ā Iām afraid thereās no mistaking his identity; heās the Yuusha summoned by El Meida.ā
āThat is correct.Ā There is no mistaking that Elliot-sama is El Meidaās summoned Yuusha.āĀ Christa confirms Lefilleās declaration for everyone to hear.
Elliot thumps a hand against his chest as his suspicion gets cleared away.Ā āHowās that?Ā Do you accept that Iām the Yuusha?ā
āThereās no doubting that youāre the Yuusha.ā
āThenāā
āI heard the same from Lefille, but letting you leave with her is entirely another matter.ā
āWhat?ā
āMore importantly, is this really, absolutely necessary?Ā Do the Goddess-samaās oracles have to be observed without doubt?āĀ Suimeiās question is one that deviates from the current worldās social norm, but he still has to voice it.
Christa says, āOf course.Ā They are our Goddess-samaās desires.Ā We humans, having received her blessings, are obligated to grant them.ā
Among the people living in this world, only a very small number receive a direct oracle from the Goddess.Ā Elliot is one example, Lefille is a more extreme one.Ā She basically inherited the blood of the Goddessās right-arm.
Regardlessā āEven if the person in question is unwilling?ā
āEven then.āĀ Elliot declares it for everyone to hear.Ā He speaks with an astuteness towards Alshnaās decree that disregards his own origin of another world.
Where does his confidence in her oracle come from?Ā Still, the entire argument becomes laughable once Lefilleās condition is taken into account.Ā Suimei asks, āYouāre on your way to defeat the Maou, right?Ā Should you really be taking people who canāt fight?ā
āIāll admit that Iām also somewhat perplexed by that.ā
Thatās right.Ā All sensible people will reach that conclusion. āIn that caseāā
āHowever, that was the oracleās decree.Ā Doesnāt that mean thereās something only she can do?ā
āYouāre reading way too much into that message.ā
āThe one presenting us humans with oracles is a glorious existence we could never fathom.Ā The only way we could ever understand her intentions are by seeing them with our own eyes.ā
āKami-sama sounds pretty sketchy.Ā She could have said that on a whim.ā
āThatās impossible.Ā Truth is, that oracle saved me.ā
āQuit being so dramatic with your gestures.Ā Or are they supposed to prove the credibility of your Goddess?ā
Christa says, āFrom what I understandā¦.ā
āHmā¦?ā
Christa glares as she says, āFrom what I understand: you reject the oracle; deny our Yuushaās, Elliot-samaās, will; and are defying Alshna-samaās decree.ā
The remark leaves Lefille flustered.Ā āThat- Thatāsā¦āĀ She averts her gaze like a little girl after being scolded.Ā Mentioning the Goddess Alshnaās name stabs at a deep rooted anxiety that disrupts her usual confidence.
Felmenia tosses Lefille a lifeline by challenging Christa with a rarely seen attitude.Ā āI will not deny the importance of our Goddess Alshnaās commands.Ā However, do you not believe you are being a little too inconsiderate of our circumstances?Ā Would you not agree that leaving with Lefille here and now is somewhat hasty?ā
āAre you that ignorant to our current state of affairs?Ā The mazoku have conquered the Kingdom of Noxias.Ā Then, just a few days ago, they invaded the Kingdom of Aster.Ā With all this happening, do you really think we have time to be so laid-back?ā
āThat invasion was repelled.ā
āYou can say that in hindsight, but it doesnāt change the fact that they invaded.ā
āRegardless, Lefille joining Yuusha-dono does not mean our present condition will change.Ā Instead, does that not create the needless possibility for rumors slandering Yuusha-donoās reputation to arise?āĀ Sparks fly as Felmenia clashes her glare against Christaās.Ā She had the weaker position at first, but with a skillful counterattack, flipped their positions to leave Christa pursing her lips.
Elliot says, āStill, Iāll be troubled if she doesnāt come with me.ā
Suimei says, āArenāt you being a bit too high handed?ā
āFrom your perspective, that may appear to be the case.ā
Suimei frowns while wondering, Isnāt that just evading the question?
Elliot shifts his stare towards Felmenia.
Suimei says, āWhat?ā
Elliotās tone is as though heās evaluating merchandise.[2]Ā āPal, the girl next to you looks pretty strong, but I doubt youād be able to keep up.ā
āHuh?ā
āPut short, you donāt want to separate from Lefille-chan, right?Ā Iām sorry, but give up.Ā I cannot take you with me.Ā This might feel like Iām stealing your girls from you, but Iām overthrowing the Maou.Ā Iām doing this for everyone on the planet.Ā Hold in your tears for the sake of this world.ā
Suimeiās lip twitches.Ā He isnāt someone who will remain calm after having such an insult thrown at him.Ā Also, while he isnāt someone whoāll adopt a reserved tone just because itās a first meeting either, Elliot goes too far.
āSo, what do you have to say?ā
āFor the sake of this world?Ā Isnāt that nothing more than self-indulgence?ā
āSelf-indulgenceā¦Ā From the context, youāre claiming that Iām fabricating a reason to take those girls with me?Ā If you really want a reason, then because I said so should be enough.ā
Suimei goes to continue arguing when-
āEnough.Ā You have nothing to do with this.Ā Nothing you say matters.ā
āWrong, Lefille is my companion.Ā That should have been obvious.ā
āLike I said earlier, Iām doing this for the world.āĀ Elliot once more uses āthe worldā as an excuse.
Suimei tries to keep his irritation from showing.Ā āYeah, I heard you the first time.āĀ Thatās something he shouldnāt say out loud, but does so anyway.
Lefille says, āSuimei-kun!ā
Felmenia says, āSu- Suimei-dono!ā
Yuusha Elliot also stares at Suimei in shock.Ā āā¦..Isnāt this your world, too?ā
āMaybe, but I donāt care.
āCome onā¦.āĀ Elliot is at a loss as he stares at the steel resolve within Suimeiās eyes.Ā They continue regarding each other until someone interrupts.
Christa says, āI heard those words!Ā Everyone, this man opposes our glorious Goddess-samaās decree.Ā He stands against our Goddess-sama!ā Ā She has her back to Suimeiās party as she calls out to everyone within the Twilight Pavilion.Ā From that corner of the guild building, she tells a dramatized version of what occurred.Ā Her exaggerated defamation both incites her listeners and isolates the offenders.
Felmenias and Lefilleās chairs clang against the ground as they stand.
Many people respond to Christaās loud voice.Ā The Twilight Pavilion officials who had been monitoring them while whispering amongst themselves, adherents of the Salvation Church who had come to accept requests, and curious onlookers all direct their glares towards Suimeiās party.Ā The straining atmosphere breaks and soon everyone voices their condemnation.Ā Abusive words like āscoundrel,ā and āshamelessā are thrown about.
Suimei, well aware of his own shamelessness and ego, watches without a word.Ā However, Christaās tactic of drawing support from outsiders by manipulating their faith churns his stomach.Ā āā¦.Goddess-sama, Goddess-sama, considering I know nothing about her, her intentions are garbage.ā
Lefille says, āDonāt say that.Ā Our problem is that their emotions are being riled up with lies.ā
With everything thatās happening, Suimei says to Elliot, āYouāre like an idiot.ā
āWhatā¦.?ā
Suimeiās indirect method of speaking catches Elliot off guard.Ā Then, without disregarding Elliot, he glances back towards Lefille.Ā Her mind must be plagued with mixed feelings.Ā The Goddessās intentions are conflicting with her own desires.Ā That mental struggle makes her pale with anxiety.
Suimei says, āJust look at Lefille.Ā A Goddess that fills a forward person like her with so much doubt canāt be any good.Ā Or am I wrong?ā
āYouāre still going on about thatā¦?ā
āWhat of it?Ā Youāre trying to take them.Ā TchāĀ If you really want them, then how about taking them by force?ā
At Suimeiās dangerous suggestion, the phrases, āHe said that to Yuusha-sama?ā, āDoes he really think he can defeat the Yuusha?ā, and āStupid,ā fly about the room.
Elliot thinks the same.Ā āHey, do you realize Iām the Yuusha?ā
āYeah.āĀ Suimeiās response displays how deep his obstinate refusal to yield runs.
Yet, Elliot, even upon seeing Suimeiās attitude, refuses to give up.Ā He turns to Lefille and says, āDo you, at least, understand the importance of Goddess Alshnaās oracle?ā
āI- I, thatā¦āĀ Lefille turns silent and nods.Ā As someone who received the Goddessās blessing, thatās the only response she can give despite feeling the contrary.
Elliot says, āShe appears to understand.ā
āPerhaps, but that doesnāt matter.āĀ Suimei made a promise with Lefille and for the sake of that promise, he wonāt budge from his position.
Elliot sighs at being denied again and again.Ā He then looks at Lefille with burning determination. Ā He says, āā¦Understood, Iāll just take them by force.ā
Christa then makes another uproar within the Twilight Pavilion in an attempt to legitimize Elliotās decision.Ā āDid you hear that?Ā That man just said it!Ā Heās going to oppose our Goddess-sama!ā
In response to Christaās cries, various patrons voice their complaints.Ā This time, however, the patrons are louder and more of them get involved.Ā Although they make bitter expressions at Felmenia, their hostility weakens towards Lefille.Ā The people glaring at her turn blue, as though theyāre standing on a bed of nails.
āā¦Every single one of them.ā
Suimei confronts their condemners with his own voice.Ā He tells them that theyāre ignorant to their circumstance; that theyāre blinded by their self-righteousness; and that as long as what they do aligns with their Godās intentions, then theyāll even mindlessly attack the helpless.
āā¦..Suimei-kun, maybe we should just give upā¦.āĀ Suimei gives Lefilleās head a gentle pat.
Everyone believes that the Yuushaās opponent doesnāt stand a chance.Ā Suimei, however, is accustomed to being underestimated.
Felmenia looks unnerved as she says, āSuimei-dono, this placeā¦ā
āThereās no choice but to go through with this.Ā Stay behind me and donāt get separated.ā
āNo, that I cannot do.Ā I did not come here just to run away.ā
āYou sure?Ā Sorry for dragging you into my mess.ā
The Yuushaās team stands before Suimei and Felmenia.Ā Even if the current situation occurred because oracle, it is nothing more than violent oppression.Ā Donāt they realize how much Lefille is suffering because of this?Ā
Christa is making a racket.Ā Yuusha Elliot is positioning himself at the proper distance needed to strike.Ā All the patrons within the Twilight Pavilion are surrounding them to create a ring.Ā Suimei will never forgive them for this.Ā He sought power for a reason.Ā Remembering sets his heart ablaze.Ā Any restraint he had burns away.Ā āāExcellent.Ā Come on.Ā I donāt know much about Yuusha, but if you stand in front of me, Iāll blow you away.ā
āIām pretty sure I told you that I canāt take you with us.Ā Do you really think you can be my opponent?ā
āā¦ā¦ā
āEven though right now Iām like this, back on my world I was a decently famous swordsman and a master sorcerer.Ā Now, I have the blessing granted to this worldās the summoned heroes. Ā Donāt you understand what all this means?ā
āNot a clue.Ā I donāt know a thing about that.ā
āGuess youāre not someone who can be reasoned withāā Elliot draws out his sword.
āāPlease, wait!ā
āāTch!?ā
Suimei and Elliot are restrained by those sudden words.Ā Everyoneās attention falls onto that voice thanks to its timing.Ā Judging by the pitch, it probably belongs to a woman.Ā Then appears the beast raced Sister Suimei and Lefille met at the church.
Christa turns towards her.Ā āAnd you are?ā
āI am a Sister from the Salvation Church, please call me Clarissa.Ā I have come to deliver our Goddess-samaās most recent oracleāā
–ā cute star, one day youāll fly across the sky ≈ ā –
Clarissa looks at both Elliot and Suimei as she steps onto their stage.Ā āBoth sides, please stand down.ā
Christa steps forward as she voices her doubts.Ā āMost recent oracle, you say?Ā Does it really have anything to do with us?ā
āYes.Ā This involves both Yuusha-sama and this gentleman.Ā Our Goddess-sama recently graced me with her oracle.ā
Elliot says, āMe and him?ā
āCorrect, neither party is to directly fight over the girl with red hair.Ā Instead, this match should be concluded by capturing the shadow plaguing the Imperial Capital.ā
Everyone else in the room becomes restless at the sudden arbitration.Ā No one expected a second oracle to follow the first one.Ā One with this sort of timing is unprecedented.
Suimei asks the Sister, āSister-san, what do you mean by the shadow plaguing the Imperial Capital?ā
āThat most likely refers to the culprit behind the coma incidents.Ā The solution offered by this oracle lies in arresting the one responsibleā¦ā
Elliot says, āIn other words, he and I will be competing to capture him, right?ā
āYes, therefore, please end this match.Ā Your bout will be fruitless.ā
Elliot, realizing that their fight is pointless, obeys by sheathing his sword.Ā āā¦.Understood.Ā If that is the oracleās message, then I shall withdraw my blade.ā
Suimei also stands down upon seeing that.Ā Continuing to fight despite how the situation is progressing would only make matters worse.
Elliot turns towards Suimei.Ā āAnd thatās that.Ā So, what are you going to do?ā
āHmm, I have no obligation to obey Alshnaās preaching.Ā However, if this will let us resolve our problem without future conflict, then I accept.ā
āThe way you talk ticks me offā but, itās decided.āĀ With that declaration, Elliot rejoins Christa.Ā He then turns and says, āYour name is Suimei Yakagi, right?ā
āYeah.ā
āIāll remember that.Ā Letās go, Christa.āĀ Elliot, despite the various gawkers, takes Christa with him through the center of guild and out the door.
Once Elliotās back is out of sight, Suimei walks toward Clarissa who says, āLong time no see.ā
āI never thought a Sister would interrupt us.ā
āMe neither.Ā Not once did I expect that by coming to the Twilight Pavilion for an errand, Iād see the gentleman I spoke with before and Yuusha-sama face off.ā
Suimei is very surprised.Ā He never expect to get into a fight with one of the Yuusha summoned to help save the world either, but there he wasāĀ Suimei realizes something is off with what Clarissa said.Ā She came to the Twilight Pavilion for business.Ā The term āoracleā doesnāt fit into the conversationās flow.Ā āSister, about the oracle you mentionedā¦ā
āYou mean the oracle from just now?Ā You seeāā
āā¦.?ā
The Sister leans closer towards Suimeiās ear and speaks a few words, āI lied.āĀ Impish giggling leaks out from her as she pulls away.
āHaā¦. Huh!?ā
āIf I didnāt do that much, Suimei-sama[3] would have destroyed Yuusha-samaā Ahem!Ā Something like that would have been too harsh.ā
However, judging from her attitude, protecting the Yuusha doesnāt appear to have been her intention.Ā āMaybe, maybe not?Ā I could have lost?ā
āAra, who knows?Ā I have bad eyes.ā
āNo, thatās not trueā¦.āĀ Knowing how a fight will turn out is impossible.Ā People can make predictions, but the Sisterās case appears to be different.Ā Even though she isnāt a warrior, she did the impossible and saw through him and Elliot.Ā But it makes sense if I consider it a characteristic from the beast race.Ā He says, āIs lying about the oracle, alright?Ā I mean, arenāt you a member of the Salvation Church?ā
āYes,ā
āThen?ā
Clarissa shakes her head.Ā āThis isnāt something someone in service of Alshna-sama should say, but not everything our Goddess-sama says is correct.Ā With that said, seeing you stand up to protect those you hold dear was very admirable.āĀ Suimei is caught off guard by those unexpected words, allowing Clarissa to grasp his hand within a gentle hold.
āEhā¦.ā
āYou are a kind man.Ā Please, donāt ever lose your heart.āĀ Clarissa turns on her heel with those words and leaves.
–Woosh Woosh ā Cute Star, Woosh Woosh ā Cute Star–
Suimei and Elliot come to an agreement on how to settle their dispute thanks to Clarissaās intermission. Ā Suimeiās party, as if they were running away, leave the Twilight Pavilion for a quieter place almost as far as his house.
Felmenia makes a grim face as she says, āWe have involved ourselves in an outrageous situation.ā
āYep.āĀ Suimei also finds that competing to capture the one responsible for the coma incidents is an unexpected situation.Ā Clarissaās quick wittedness might have saved them, but it also wrapped them up in an incredible predicament.
āā¦.Sorry, youāre all caught up in this mess because of my oracle.ā
āEhā¦.?Ā Ah, no- not at all!Ā Lefille, this is not something you should worry about!Ā Despite how this developed, wonāt everything not be resolved with victory!?Ā Therefore, weāve just got to win!āĀ Felmenia turns towards Suimei for help upon realizing her verbal slip.Ā He, however, isnāt paying her any mind as he stands in place with his arms crossed.Ā He just stares at the ground as though trying to drill a hole into it with his eyes.Ā His attitude puzzles her and feeds into her nervousness.Ā āSuimei-dono?ā
ā⦠Yeah, youāre right. As for catching whoever is behind the coma incidents, for now, how about watching how this develops?āĀ Suimeiās distraction stems from the fact that their current situation is a result of Clarissaās lie.Ā Even if they win the competition, that will not resolve the fundamental problem.Ā At best, their trouble will only be postponed.Ā The Goddess could even undo everything by sending another oracle.Ā Issues with religion never run smoothlyā¦
While Suimei is lost in thoughts that run as deep as the ocean, Lefille tugs on his sleeve.Ā She speaks with a worried tone. āSuimei-kun, whatās wrong?ā
āNo, Iām just thinking about what we should do next.ā
Felmenia says, āHmmā¦. Should not gathering information be our first step?ā
Suimei says, āYeah, exceptā¦ā
āBe at ease, Suimei-dono.Ā I, Felmenia Stingray, as unworthy as I am, shall work my hardest.ā
āSorry, Iāll be depending on you.Ā Can you gather information for me?ā
āPlease entrust me with that task.Ā However⦠I may fail to live up to your expectations.ā
āThat canāt be helped.Ā Out opponent is the Yuusha, after all.ā Ā Suimei suspects that the citizens of the Imperial Capital will become less helpful over time.Ā Them choosing to cooperate with the Yuusha over the Yuushaās opponent is only natural.Ā While they probably wonāt go so far as to hinder their efforts, they wonāt demonstrate any good will to them.Ā Theyāve been burdened with a very large handicapā Well, overcoming it isnāt impossible.
While Suimei entertains those thoughts, Lefille raises her hand.Ā āThen, Iāll also help gather information.ā
āNo, Iād like to ask you to do something else.ā
āSomething else⦠do you want me to look for the criminal?ā
Suimei shakes his head as he says, āNo, no, thereās no way I could ask the current you to do something like that.āĀ Such a request would be too irresponsible.
āThen?ā
āLefille, I need you to search the Imperial Capital and bring back as many stray cats as you can.ā
āCa- Cats?Ā What are you going to do with stray cats?ā
Suimei starts explaining their situation with, āWell, if we canāt ask the people for help, then weāll just ask the cats.[4]ā
T/N: So, you guys getting excited??Ā Weāre almost at the new stuff.Ā Iāll admit that this chapter was a bit of a pain.Ā It was long, not really arduous, but yes tedious.Ā I thought weād get a fight scene, but nope.Ā Not even the start of one.Ā Maybe Elliot will discover the lie near the end of this arc, pick a fight with Suimei, only for Lefille to beat him up due to having returned to her true form??Ā Disclaimer, I donāt know if she will return to her true form or not by that point in time, but that would be amazing to see play out.
On another note, Iāve lately been dreaming of opening a publishing company focused on translating light novels.Ā From what Iāve seen off of some messaging boards, the current quality of light novel translations isnāt that good.Ā My company would fix that little hole.Ā It would also publish multi-volume work at a fast pace.Ā Truth be told, I have no idea what the translation quality of current light novels is really like.Ā So, if Iām wrong, then that would probably be a total flop.Ā What do you all think??
-Gandire
1 Eliot uses ākimiā here.Ā That version of āyouā in Japan is only used with people youāre very intimate with.Ā He also uses it with Suimei, so heās probably just trying to be friendly.
2Ā The text doesnāt say anything about merchandise.Ā It just says he has an evaluative stare.Ā I made that change because it sounds more natural and seems like it fits/ describes his character.Ā On that note, the text isnāt clear if he only wants to take Lefille, or both Lefille and Felmenia.Ā Sometimes it leans one way, sometimes the other.Ā For that reason, Iām referring to the LN interpretation and translate as though he wants both of them.
3 Clarissa actually says, āyou-samaā which sounds weird.Ā Suddenly referring to Suimei in third person in direct conversation isnāt much better, but that feels like the best way of indirectly granting respect and a sense of intimacy at the same time.
[4] This is a pun.Ā Thereās a saying in Japan that goes, āIām so desperate Iāll even turn to a cat for help.āĀ That said, this is a nice interpretation.
Hey, I’m gonna just a lurker on sites, but I just want to say that establishing yourself may prove more difficult than it seems. There are well known companies that translate light novels, such as Yen Press. However, if you still want to continue, then as a reader of your work I encourage you wholeheartedly.
*I’m just
I’m not a aiming to be a big shot, but this should work out the more well known american faux becomes. Thanks for your encouragement!
more chapter pls š
I’ve been waiting so long to continue this one, I can wait a year if I have to!
If you are seriously thinking about starting a translation company would you make it more of an “online company” with digital releases only and maybe something like a subscription or rather a “proper” company with physical releases as well.
You would also have to buy yourself the licenses right?
There are licenses that I would have to get along with a company name. Although, the name is already taken care of, unless someone else has already legally claimed this name and I don’t know about it. I’d probably start with online sales of “novels” with the individual option of ordering a paperback. If it goes well, then I’d start distributing paperback to retailers. But, before any of that, I’d have to improve my translating abilities, get a wider scope of how interest people would be, and make American Faux more well known. I’d probably also start translating a second or thrid series to fulfill that last requirment.
Gandire, are you looking for partners? I tried searching for an email to contact you but I couldn’t find one so I am posting here. I have an interest in starting a publishing company for light novels as well. Let me know if you are interested in having a conversation.
THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH. I really appreciate you translating this series.
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSS
Thanks for the chapter!
Ahh that cliffhanger and omg cats are great!!! Thanks for the chapter! I look forward to the coming one xD
I’m just happy that you’re catching up to the web novel.
Correction, Light Novel š
Much thanks for continuing this translation.
I wish for Suimei to slowly and gently hand to Elliot a sizzling, bootprint-laden, freshly kicked Yuusha butt on a silver platter … with asparagus.
From my favorite chapter to my least favorite. It pains me really bad because the fight here was really good.
Also, thanks for the chapter.
Thanks 4 the chapter!
It seems that in this version Felmenia didn’t say anything about hiding her identity.
I would support your company buy buying stuff if you put out print books I want to get several on amazon but j-novel club only has kindle versions I for one like my books being physical items. I do have a kindle mind you and tend to buy the kindle and physical versions(I’m lazy and some times just take my older kindle keyboard with me)
The author really cockblocked us in this chapter. I was reading fast just to get to the fight too…
ikr, i want to see Suimei completely obliterate some conceited people
*SPOILER ALERT*
guys im not sure which version this is the LN or the WN. but the version from Skythewood that got discontinued definitely have a fight scene, where Sumei overwhelmed the yuusha and stole Cristina’s magic leaving the bystanders baffled and frozen as he released his freezing magic. There was no conclusion though since the other maiden arrived to stop the fight…
Still I appreciate OP for taking this project up, Skythewood stopped at the chapter right after this one when they encountered the reason for the deaths(competition against the yusha).
Really excited!
This is the web novel, there was no fight in the web novel
thanks for the chapter.
i’ve been thinking. With all the time Suimei has to waste helping the people of that world, while he is needed back on Earth, would it not be fair that once he has inevitably defeated the demon lord (its obvious that he will have to bail out the other heroes whether he wants to or not) and he is finally ready to go back to Earth. He should ask the king for some fighters/mages to come back to Earth to help dealing with the secret anti mage organization. I suppose a legion or two would do. Maybe add a few dragon riders as a bonus š
Even if he did, they’d be slaughtered. Suimei is this strong even though, according to him, he’s only an average leveled magician. He’d have to request for people much stronger than him for aid and if that world that that type of power, they wouldn’t have resorted to hero summoning to begin with.
It is true that he himself claimed to be average and inferior to his father but we also know that as a magician Sumei hides his strength. He might also rather not get involved any further. Moreover he also mentioned that his “superior” (sry but I don’t know how his organisation is called) always lets him do almost impossible tasks. Who would give an average nobody such hard tasks? Although I agree that the mages would be a hinder especially due tho them not knowing how to conceal their power but I don’t think that we can as of yet be sure that Sumei average in his world.
If I remember it right sky used the word “magician” but you used “sorcerer”. Does that proof that Yuusha is from another world as Sumei or did you just use another translation as sky.
As always thx for the chapter
I said “sorcerer”?? *Double checks* Hmm, yeah I did. That might have been intentional by my part because of the text, but I honestly can’t remember anymore. I’d have to go back and look through the raw, but that would be really tedious considering my level of ability. If I did use sorcerer on purpose, then that is probably because that was a better translation than spellcaster which the author might have intended as a way to show he’s from a different world that isn’t Suimei’s.
I do agree that we don’t really know how Suimei stacks up with magician’s from his world, hence my phrasing. However, that phrasing also implies that there are people stronger than him, more than just his father and enough that he feels inadequate.
wrong not all of the there are humans who are fairly strong that can stand against suimei in his arcane furnace and deal lotsa damge with him like the princess of the empire for example and leffile ofcourse
-A passing raw reader
Didn’t Lefille and the tom-boy princess have trouble against Rajas?? They are strong, but I wouldn’t say stronger than Suimei. Well, the princess might be stronger in terms of swordsmanship.
Thanks for the chapter~!
