Only I can Return After the Class Transfer Translation

40. Other World Transfer

Yukinari: “Eh!?”

Doesn’t that mean being able to go to another world!? Isn’t that basically… like a game clear!? Can’t we all return to our world now!?

Hagisawa: “OOOOOOOOOOOHHH!”
Shigenobu: “Success!”
Minori: “Can’t we return to Japan with this!?”

Hagisawa, Shigenobu, and Minori-san throw their hands into the air, celebrating as if it was a personal victory. I do the same.

Meguru: “Wait, wait, we won’t know until we try it out first.”
Yukinari: “T-that’s right.”

Meguru-san’s eyes flutter around as she uses her ability.

Meguru: “…Looks like it’s no good. There’s a notification stating that the ability is only for transferring to other worlds from Japan.”

Ku…so it was a literal meaning! It’s called different world transfer, so it being an ability that transfers you to another world isn’t strange.

Hagisawa: “Huh!? If it’s an ability to transfer to another world, at the very least you should be able to transfer to another world from the other world!”
Yukinari: “What are you hoping to accomplish by pressing Meguru-san?”
Hagisawa: “I know, but!”

I understand how Hagisawa feels though. I thought that I’d be able to unload my burden with this… but telling Meguru-san would be a mistake. Not even she understands the kind of ability she got after all.

Shigenobu: “Even if it were possible, shouldn’t transferring to another world from another world be a difficult thing to do?”

Shigenobu says something reasonable.

Shigenobu: “It would be nice to go if we could though… things might change for the better compared to now.”

Well, if we could move the entire battle group of Taniizumi and the others to some unknown place, that would be great. Not to a jungle like forest, but more like a town or some grasslands.

Meguru: “This ability… is a miss.”

Meguru-san murmurs in a crestfallen tone as her shoulders dropping.

Yukinari: “No, it isn’t.”

I noticed a possibility here. No, I noticed it because I’m me, and it’s something everyone is also aware of. It’s best to say it now.

Yukinari: “The fact that you acquired a different world transfer expansion ability, then… it wouldn’t be surprising for an ability to transfer to Japan to also awaken. If Meguru-san keeps raising her Lv, she might get that other ability someday?”

Meguru-san, who was hanging her head, looks up at me. Yeah… this is the look of hope. Meguru-san has a part of an ability that will become everyone’s hope.

Meguru: “That’s right… if an expansion ability like this exists, then it’s highly possible the opposite also exists!”
Shigenobu: “Yeah! Let’s report this to everyone.”

Hagisawa and Minori-san shake their heads in response to Shigenobu’s words.

Minori: “Don’t you think it’s still too early?”
Hagisawa: “Yeah. Taniizumi and the others don’t care one bit about returning home. Rather, they might not even want to go back. If things go badly, Meguru-san’s life might even be endangered.”

…That’s certainly true. The circumstances are the same with me and my ability to return to Japan, it’s an expansion ability with great potential danger.

Hagisawa: “I’d also like to say that I think it’s better if we get stronger first.”

I agree. That said, Meguru-san’s opinion is important as well.

Shigenobu: “Meguru-san, what do you think?”

Shigenobu asks Meguru-san, and Meguru-san, after thinking for a moment, nods.

Meguru: “It’s true… right now, saying anything would be dangerous.”
Shigenobu: “Understood. Let’s keep this a secret and focus on raising Meguru-san’s Lv.”
“Yeah!”

Our hearts are one. We might be able to return. That alone gives us hope.

Hagisawa: “Well then, shall we start… heading back to the base camp for some rest? Minori-san looks sleepy too.”

Hagisawa says with a yawn.

Even though it’s not morning yet… this should be fine?

Minori: “Fuaaaa… no need. Hagisawa-kun and the others can continue without me.”
Hagisawa: “Nah, don’t worry about us. Honestly, I’m beat too… Continuing will be dangerous, so I want to go back.”
Yukinari: “I wanted to keep fighting until Shigenobu and Hagisawa got their expansion abilities though.”

Well Shigenobu’s ability is likely to have something to do with granting effects. What will Hagisawa learn?

Hagisawa: “Pass… Let’s wait till tomorrow.”

Today Minori-san came along without taking a nap. She said it was because she couldn’t sleep due to the excitement. So that’s the price, late night… around 3 AM is when the drowsiness strikes.

Yukinari: “I hope you get a good ability.”
Hagisawa: “Honestly… I don’t remember a single combat-oriented expansion ability out of all the ones so far, so I don’t really expect too much anymore.”

Hagisawa answers in a cool way.

Yukinari: “Trading is pretty good though.”

He clenches his fists happily in response to my words. He’s still unsatisfied, but his ability exceeding his expectations is a compromise.

Hagisawa: “Well, if I were to choose whatever ability I wanted, I’d probably choose one of the abilities from the battle group, or Sakaeda’s blacksmithing.”
Shigenobu: “Isn’t there equipment that can’t be made without Hagisawa’s ability?”

Hagisawa nods in response to Shigenobu’s words.

Hagisawa: “I know, there’s an inseparable relationship between toolmaking and equipment. I’m relieved to know that good equipment is necessary.”

It’s something that you can’t understand unless you’re of the same production ability group. I’m a bit jealous. Seems like he’ll be able to get along better with Shigenobu than me.

Hagisawa: “Well, let’s look forward to Sakaeda’s next ability. Expect to get even stronger.”

We decided on our future plans and returned to base.

At this time, I’m not particularly wary or concerned with Meguru-san’s expansion ability and the changes occurring in her body…

The morning labor… after I finish help cleaning, I take a nap in Shigenobu’s workshop. Recently, I’ve been taking turns with Shigenobu napping, and wake up whenever the battle group comes to the workshop counter.

Well, basically I’m only busy during the morning and evening. I stay up until noon and buy lunch from Japan when asked. After that, I swap with Shigenobu and get some rest, and around 4 PM, I transfer home and take another nap. After 6 PM, I eat an early dinner prepared by my parents. Then I head out to buy any needed supplies, distribute dinner to my classmates in the other world, and once more go back to Japan for a bath before returning to the other world.

I lived according to this cycle but…

Hm? Meguru-san seems to be arguing with Shigenobu at the transfer location…? Shigenobu is tilting his head to the side in confusion, and Meguru-san looks frantic. What’s happening? Just in case, I transfer to a separate room.

Meguru: “Like – I – Said! Yukinari-kun!”
Shigenobu: “Hm? What about Yukinari?”
Meguru: “Eh?”

What a loud voice. What’s wrong with Meguru-san? I open the door and call to the two.

Yukinari: “What’s going on? You guys are being pretty loud.”
Meguru: “Eh? Yukinari-kun? Huh?”
Shigenobu: “Meguru-san was asking me where you are. Look, isn’t he right here? Do you need him to help you with something?”
Meguru: “Eh? But Shigenobu-kun, you just say that you didn’t know anyone by that name- what?”

Wh-what? Meguru-san alternates between looking at me and Shigenobu in confusion.

Shigenobu: “No, no, there’s no way I wouldn’t know him. He was in the next room resting after taking a bath. Right Yukinari?”

Yukinari: “Ye-yeah…”

Well, to be honest I wasn’t in the other world, I went to Japan to eat dinner and take a bath. Although it’s not true, but it seems that if I’m not on the other world, anything that happens will be retroactively corrected. It has troubled me sometimes since I have to talk about things that I should know about, but I’ve managed to somehow bluff my way through so far.

Meguru: “No, Shigenobu, you went into the bath by yourself. When you came out, you were with Hagisawa. I searched thoroughly so there’s no doubt. Moreover, you were acting like he was a complete stranger earlier.”

Meguru-san declares so to Shigenobu with eyes full of conviction.

No… that… could it be…

Meguru-san, on the verge of tears, hugs me.

Eh!? Wh-what’s going on?

Meguru: “They were acting like Yukinari-kun had never existed… I was so afraid. I thought everyone might have gotten rid of you somewhere…”

…What a frightening thought. But, that’s…

Shigenobu: “Hmm.”

Shigenobu looks at me with an innocuous expression before responding.

Shigenobu: “…There might be something going on, but I think Yukinari has his reasons for needing to keep quiet.”

It was easy to imagine the danger Shigenobu would be in were he to learn about me being able to return to Japan, so I reluctantly remained silent. If he knew, he wouldn’t be able to feign ignorance if I got exposed. It definitely lets me keep them safe and avoids unnecessary harm. After making sure the workshop is empty, Shigenobu answers Meguru-san.

Shigenobu: “Perhaps… this is a mysterious world. The first day we came here, Yukinari asked me some things which naturally led to certain answers after I thought about it a little. Any of them might be correct or wrong. But if Yukinari doesn’t want to talk about it, then I won’t ask.”
