I Don't Want to Break off my Engagement... Translation

49. Farewell

I refused Will’s companionship and I proceeded to return to the guild dormitory alone.

Towards Will, whom was insanely reluctant, I promised to return within 30 minutes. He agreed to let me go after giving me a necklace. I didn’t understand what was the necklace for.

Will said, “Wherever you go, this necklace will let me know.”

What do I do… Will sure is overprotective…

But it was indeed me who made him so worried—I was willing to accept the necklace.

I told the guild members and the pair of man and woman, that I was leaving for a time being, and told them goodbye.

By the way, the woman with dark hair seemed to have fallen in love with Kevin. During the previous incident, it seemed that she had been eavesdropping us.

Hey, hey, your partner is right beside you!

He’s staring!

…I unexpectedly learned about the relationship between them.

After that, I went to the church and greeted the priest and the children.

The children wept continuously, and I promised I would come to play sometime. But I thought it would be quite difficult to fulfil said promise.

Eventually, I would become the queen of the Kingdom of Haulfa. Once that happened, I wouldn’t be able to visit Talia easily.

Since I was the fiancée of the first prince, I would have to pay attention at my schedule, then perhaps ask Will if I could go to Talia for an “inspection”, or something…

…It would surely be difficult—but definitely, I would return here again.

Finally, I headed to Lafran Lamine. Usually, Ganet would be there, minding the store.

For some reason, looking at him made me feel as if tomorrow, everything would still be the same, and I would still be here.

I tried to open the shop door, but I heard a voice from behind.

“Excuse me, Lady. Would you let me be your beautiful escort?”

Surprised, I turned around—there was Will, who looked a little dissatisfied.

“Will!”

“Tia, 30 minutes are already over… I was so worried… no, I know it’s impossible to finish your farewell in 30 minutes, forgive me, but still… I should’ve just waited a bit longer… but I will die of worry—Tia, wouldn’t you let me accompany you?”

Will, who was trying to control himself, was already standing in front of the store’s door.

Ganet stared at us with in surprise—even if I were to refuse him now… It couldn’t be helped.

I smirked and asked Will to open the door as I held my head because of Will’s overprotection.

There was a short sound—karan.

“Welcome! Hey, Fern, who’s that good-looking man? What happened to Luka?”

Ganet, just like me previously, was one of those who didn’t know of Luka’s true identity. Same with the guild. Only the leader of the guild knew.

Hearing the name ‘Luka’, Will stiffened. Then, with a nice smile, he answered Ganet as he embraced my waist strongly.

“Nice to meet you. Thank you for getting along with my fiancée. I am her fiancé, Williant. As her fiancé, I will have to offer you my utmost gratitude.”

I thought the time had stopped.

Ganet blinked about thrice, before her eyes gleamed as she approached me—t, too close!

Did he say the word ‘fiancé’ three times?!

Did he really need to!? I wanted to run away, but I couldn’t because he held my waist tight.

I confronted Ganet with teary eyes.

“My, Fern! You have such a nice man as your fiancé, why didn’t you tell me sooner?! Even so, what a beautiful youth he was! He looks great with you, Fern! Congratulations! Be happy!”

“Ganet, too quick, too quick! I’m still but engaged with Will!”

“Will!? You’re already calling him Will!? My, how lovey-dovey! So, when can I expect a child?!”

“Child?! Wait, Ganet, before that, we still need to get married!”

“I’m sure it will be cute~ your husband is such a beautiful young man, and Fern is such a beautiful girl! I’m sure the baby will be adorable! Ah, once you have a kid, be sure to show me!”

“Ganet…”

Ganet continued to chat endlessly.

I gave up stopping her, and stared at Will, troubled.

Will was staring at me, it seemed.

He returned my gaze with a smile.

“She’s right. Let’s return here and show her when the baby is born.”

“W, wha—Will!”

“I’m looking forward to it, Tia! I want to get married right now!”

Tia; Will whispered such, and caused me to turn red in the face.

Ganet, who saw it, grinned.

I was ashamed—I thought I would die.

“Ganet, I am leaving Talia today.”

“Eh?”

Ganet gasped softly. I felt lonely because I wouldn’t be seeing Ganet anymore—I wanted to say that I would remain in Talia.

“That’s why, Ganet, today will be the last.”

“Y, you’re lying right, Fern? So sudden…”

“…I’m sorry, Ganet. I was really happy when I received these clothes from you. I think you’re the first real friend I’ve made here. I love you, Ganet.”

Amilia and Mia came to mind when I thought of the word ‘friend’—but they were my friends as a noble lady. The friends of Duchess Tiarize—it was different from Ganet, who got along with Fern, who had nothing under her name.

Ganet said goodbye to me, and hugged me as her honey-colored eyes became teary.

“Fern! That’s… I guess it can’t be helped. As long as Fern is happy… Be happy with your husband… and, when the child is born, you will really return to show me, right? Otherwise, I’ll get mad.”

“Fufu, yes. I will show Ganet when the child is born.”

Ganet was married to her childhood friend—it wouldn’t be strange for a child to be born between them.

When I laughed at Ganet, she turned red this time.

My, how adorable.

I wanted to see more of that.

“W, wha…”

“What is it, Ganet?”

When I asked Ganet, Ganet shook her head as her face became more red. Her tears were brimming—they were shiny, and bewitching…

Her husband must surely be worried.

“I understand, Fern.”

Then, I also informed Ganet—

“—Ganet, my real name is Tiarize, Tiarize Merfan.”

No one in Talia would have such a name. Other than that, only aristocrats had surnames.

I thought Ganet immediately understood what I was implying.

She widened her eyes and asked, “Is it fine to tell me?”

I happily nodded and we cried together for a little while—it was a bit awkward.

“Yes. Call me by my name, Ganet.”

“I understand. Be happy, okay. Tiarize…, Tia. Is it fine for me to call you Tia?”

“Of course, I promise I will see you again. Promise?”

When I said that and smiled, suddenly, I was pulled behind by a strong force—Will.

As I was about to protest in shock, I stopped because I saw Will’s face.

Why are you making such a face…?

Then, I heard a small yell, “Kya!” from behind.

Just like me, Ganet was embraced from behind.

“Ah, pardon me. It’s nice to see you.”

There was Ganet’s husband.

When I made a small greeting, Ganet’s husband, who seemed like a nice man, replied with a smile.

Ganet was blushing in the arms of her husband—I found it unusual, because Ganet was usually bullish.

***T/N:

Will said, “Wherever you go, this necklace will let me know.”

WHEN I SAID TO PUT A LEASH ON HER I DON’T ACTUALLY MEAN IT, YOU UNHINGED INDIVIDUAL!!!! …But… on the other hand… I kind of… no, I think it’s understandable to put a tracker on her? She certainly shows the traits of someone who would choke and die because of her own saliva…

I love how the pair of man and woman still didn’t have a name yet, but Tia knew what’s the current relationship between the two. PRIORITIES AM I RITE.

Other than that, the rest of this chapter is just so… ///GAGS/// ///PUKE/// ///VOMMIT/// I swear, it’s so fucking cringey and gross–LIEK WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED AT THE END, THERE, OMGAH. HE KEEPS MANHANDLING HER AND WE ARE SUPPOSED TO SEE IT AS A SIGN THAT HE’S A TENDER LOVER–NO HE ISN’T.

SOMEONE WHO DOESN’T EVEN HAVE THE SLIGHTEST COURTESY TO LEAVE THE ROOM SO TIARIZE AND GANET CAN HAVE THEIR HEART TO HEART GOODBYE CAN’T BE A DECENT PERSON. JUST LEAVE, MAN. LEAAAAVE. YOU ACTUALLY HAVE NO BUSINESS BEING OR STAYING THERE.

NOT TO MENTION, GANET MAKES ME THINK THAT SHE IS PROBABLY THE AUTHOR’S SELF INSERT, WITH HOW FREQUENT SHE REPEATS “KYAAA I WANT TIA TO MARRY WILLLLLLLL” WITHOUT PROPER BASIS OTHER THAN THEM BEING BEAUTIFUL.

“I’m sure it will be cute~ your husband is such a beautiful young man, and Fern is such a beautiful girl! I’m sure the baby will be adorable! Ah, once you have a kid, be sure to show me!”

WOMAN, WE ARE NOT BREEDING HORSE, HERE. THERE ARE FAR MORE IMPORTANT THING THAN LOOKS. LOOK AT THE HOE YOU CALLED A FRIEND, SHE WAS CERTAINLY BEAUTIFUL, BUT UTTERLY PRESUMPTUOUS, OPEN BOOK, STUPID, DUMB, MORONIC, DOESNT KNOW POLITIC, IDIOTIC, CONCEITED, HAS BITCHY TENDENCIES, STUPID, DUMB, MORONIC, AND HAVE I MENTIONED, IDIOTIC? GOD BLESS PEOPLE WHO WILL BE RULED BY HER–THEY WILL BE NEEDING THAT BLESSING A LOT.

And at one instance, Ganet starts using ‘boku’–basically what a guy would use to refer to himself, and all hell broke loose. I thought I mistranslated. But I remember being ultra confused about Ganet’s supposed gender from the get go because during the previous chapter, Author never specified it, only being like ‘Ganet did this, Ganet did that’–but then I finally discovered it was likely the typo of the author, or maybe she wants to make Ganet to be quirky.

“…I’m sorry, Ganet. I was really happy when I received these clothes from you. I think you’re the first real friend I’ve made here. I love you, Ganet.”

B-but, the priest who let you freeload and eat even though you’re suspicious af? The children who also don’t know who you are but regarded you warmly? and, AND FERN!? THE ONE WHO DIED FOR YOU!?

…and it shows, you know. Williant is behaving super creepy, here. All controlling and overprotective, this dude has started raising those red flags and I don’t know what to expect next.

–He treats her like a toddler, and she is a toddler, but…
