The Death of Princess Charlotte Translation

34.2 Charlotte: Chapter 4, Episode 8

Fortunately, the magic weapon had a usage limit. If he acted with the right timing and rescued her, he’d surely be able to make her fall for him.

For his own gain, Malcolm didn’t report the attack and went to see Rex.

“Rex, I want to take over next week’s business negotiation.”

“You? Take over? But it’s not like I can’t handle it…”

“I believe the representative is a young lady? I can persuade her to sign a contract on better terms.”

“Well, now that you mention it, you’re good at negotiating with women, Brother.”

“I’d like you to take over the business I was in charge of instead. It seems that the investor’s family has a young lady around your age, so it’d be best to get her on your side, considering the future. She’ll be a good candidate for a wife once you take over the earl’s family and the company.”

“Hmm… I see.”

It wasn’t that hard to persuade Rex. Things were going as planned.

‘Trials’ were made to be overcome.

Malcolm believed that by coincidentally rescuing Juliet, she’d fall in love with him.

However, reality wasn’t as sweet. The trial was greater than he had expected.

Juliet seemed to like and trust Malcolm, but there wasn’t much love between them. Meanwhile, Malcolm’s feelings for her only grew exponentially every time they came into contact.

Malcolm was anxious. Then, another idea occurred to him.

When the attack occurred, Juliet was in the carriage the whole time. She hadn’t seen the situation outside. Maybe that was why she wasn’t scared enough.

If he could create a similar situation and save Juliet properly, in front of her eyes, he’d surely be able to win her heart!

With that plan in mind, Malcolm secretly searched the Elms Company’s warehouse. He wanted to create a situation that even knights would find difficult to deal with. He was almost certain that George was smuggling magic tools as part of his trade with the South.

Luckily, he found something that he was looking for right away. He intended to take them back to his room and ask a random thug to carry out the plan later.

But an unexpected situation arose.

He had never imagined that Ethelbert would come to a place like that, much less cooperate with the investigation. Even worse, the Imperial Brother could detect magic tools instantly.

At the moment, they were preoccupied with the burning building. That was his cue to take out the magic weapon—the sword—and ask someone to attack Juliet.

Just as he was heading to his room with that thought in mind, a voice echoed in the hallway.

“Malcolm!” his mother rushed over. “I heard there’s a fire in the warehouse. Why are you still here?!”

“That guy told me stay away.”

“What?! That son of a bitch! Acting all high and mighty…”

His mother gritted his teeth and gripped her fan in anger. She probably didn’t realize how twisted her expression was.

“By the way, weren’t you with Princess Juliet?”

“Yes, that’s right! There’s been a big problem! Princess Juliet is—

“Huh?”

Malcolm couldn’t believe his ears. He understood what his mother was saying, but he refused to accept it.

The girl he was in love with; the girl who was meant to be his—

“Thank you for saving me.”

She was so grateful, she smiled at Malcolm. And yet, she fell in love with George, of all people.

“Impossible”

He found himself muttering.

Yes, impossible. Juliet was his soulmate. She wasn’t someone that filthy son of a whore should be touching.

“Simply outrageous! Princess Juliet should be with you, not that man—Malcolm?! Where are you going?!”

Leaving his mother behind, Malcolm walked steadily toward his room.

The first thing he did when he entered his room was take out the magic sword he had hidden in the chest.  He then left, and in the hallway, Quentin and the Royal Guards blocked his path.

Quentin. He was the Crown Princess’ fiancée, and a man who wandered around Juliet as an eyesore and a major obstacle. He was also the son of a marquis, whose rank was higher than that of the Elms family. Though their ranks differed by only one, their family was in an ideal position to be connected to the royal family.

Quentin stood in front of the Royal Guards, showing him a fake smile.

“That sword bears a strong resemblance to the sword carried by those who attacked Her Highness Juliet. What are you planning to do?”

“Get out of the way!”

“Gaaah!”

He swung his sword, and a barrage of wind blades flew off, blowing Quentin and the Royal Guards away.

Despite being thrown off, Quentin quickly used his sword to deflect the following wind blade’s trajectory. It slashed his arm, causing it to bleed. Other knights were bleeding, and some had fallen unconscious after banging their heads on the wall.

“You…”

Quentin smile vanished, and he glared at him with a sharp, angry gaze. He was trying to block Malcolm’s path and get in his way.

“Her Highness Juliet is mine!”

All hinderances to true destiny must be eliminated!
