The Death of Princess Charlotte Translation

3.1 Charlotte: Chapter 1, Episode 2

Charlotte’s eyes fluttered open. Glancing at the papers that cluttered the table, she sighed briefly.

…Maybe it’s because I work even during my breaks. I remembered something unpleasant.

A certain scene was suddenly revived in her mind—one she had seen many times.

A certain scene that took place in the past and continued on even today. The difficult environment Charlotte had been living in.

I wish to be freed as soon as possible…

I long for the day when I’ll be freed from this hell.

For a long time, such had been her wish.

The Royal Chester Academy, a prestigious school in the Kingdom of Lymore attended by the many children of aristocrats. It was founded by the first king and named after him. Of course, commoners could also enroll with scholarships given to accomplished students.

Charlotte Callista Reevesmore, the first princess and crown princess, was the firstborn of King Frederick, the national hero. She was a breathtaking woman with lustrous blonde hair and jade eyes, she had inherited Frederick’s beauty.

She was also enrolled at Royal Chester Academy.

Charlotte was educated by private tutors at the royal castle until she was of high school age. Afterwards, she was enrolled in the academy to give her the opportunity to expand her circle of friends. However, due to her role as the crown princess, she only ever had time to personally interact with other students during class hours and breaks.

Her lunch break, in which she had lunch, was the longest break she had. Even then, it was mostly consumed by work. In the end, only the short breaks between lessons could be used for socializing in addition to classes.

Well, not like I have anyone that can be considered a friend.

Only those who wanted to curry favor with the princess approached Charlotte. Furthermore, they approach Charlotte on the premise that she was an excellent princess. All they had to offer on top of their nondescript attitudes were compliments she had long bored of hearing.

‘How amazing! As expected of the king’s daughter!’

She couldn’t stand any of them.

“Did you see the results that were posted? Her Highness got first place with a perfect score. She’s so amazing! She’s just on a whole different level than us.”

“As expected of our future queen.”

“She’s the daughter of His Majesty the King, so it’s not surprising.”

As she walked down the hallway after school, she heard a voice outside the window. Considering she was on the first floor, the male students were probably gathered outside talking.

“It seems that Her Highness Juliet’s scores weren’t good.”

“It can’t be helped since her body is weak.”

At the mention of Juliet’s name, Charlotte couldn’t help but raise her eyebrows.

She had heard nothing but that since morning. As the results of the regular exam had only been posted that morning, the fire it sparked hadn’t seemed to have cooled down yet.

Charlotte had always maintained first place in regular exams, and this time wasn’t an exception. On the other hand, finding Juliet’s name was easier done if searched from the bottom. Her result was so disastrous, it was almost unprecedented in the history of the royal family.

Admiration for Charlotte and understanding for Juliet. Although the results of the siblings were irreconcilable, nobody criticized Juliet.

It’s always like this.

Excessive respect for Frederick, who liberated the country from a tyrant, had clouded the way everyone perceived his daughters.

It’s annoying. Do they have walnuts for brains?

They kept saying Juliet was physically frail, yet Juliet only fell ill for one day during the exam preparation period. People around her made a big fuss because Juliet was feeling a bit tired, so she had to recuperate in her room all day to rest.

Thanks to that, Juliet was in perfect health the next day. Nevertheless, in consideration of her health, everyone told her to take it easy, and Juliet did just that. As a result, her results were terrible. If she had studied properly, she’d have gotten a better score and ranking.

Juliet’s exam results had never been good. Even so, the fact that she didn’t even feel the need to try harder for next time clearly showed how lenient her surroundings were. Juliet was never forced into a situation where she had to put in any effort.

As Charlotte walked towards the carriage and exited the building, she spotted a familiar figure out of the corner of her eye, a pretty girl wearing the same uniform as Charlotte.

Her pink hair flowed freely, while her eyes were as bright as the sunlit skies. Juliet Callista Reevesmore, Charlotte’s younger sister and the second princess of the Kingdom of Lymore.

Next to her was a beautiful man with azure hair and black eyes, he smiled kindly at her as they engaged in conversation.

Quentin Sargent, the prime minister’s third son and Charlotte’s fiancé. He was also their childhood friend. He was two years Charlotte’s senior, and was presently enrolled in the university division of the academy.
