The Despised Lady Wishes to be Loved Translation

Extra 5.1 The Perspective of a Certain Male Student

  • This is the story of Lithia and the others as seen by a certain male student

Even back when he was still a child, Harrison Baldwin believed himself to be a tactful person.

“…Hair so white it resembles an old woman’s; eyes so yellow they’re reminiscent of vain nouveau riche gold. I’ve never seen anyone so sickening!”

Because of that, at a certain tea party for children he attended back when he was still 8-years-old, he immediately understood why the prince would say such a thing to a certain girl.

…Haha, it seems that when it comes to matters of love, the prince is no different from any other boy.

Excelling in all manners of things—such as knowledge, magic, and swordsmanship—the prince was touted as a child prodigy, but it turned out that he had such an unexpected side to himself.

“Haha, oh no, how unfortunate. Please sit further away?”

“We can’t have you offending His Highness Andrew any more than this, after all.”

“Oh no! There are no more seats! It seems that you’ll have no choice but to sit on the ground…”

However, the moment Prince Andrew uttered such clumsy words, the young ladies who were biting their lips in envy at the cuteness of the white-haired girl gleefully jumped on the bandwagon.

Despite the sarcasm they spoke with, they couldn’t read between the lines. Harrison, who was still a child at the time, bore witness to how nasty some women could be.

“Oh, uhm…”

After being nudged by the girl sitting next to her, the white-haired girl fell off her chair. Even if she couldn’t comprehend sarcasm, their malice was conveyed loud and clear. Her round, golden eyes soon overflowed with tears.

“I, uh…”

“Are you okay—woah!

The boys other than Harrison also failed to grasp the prince’s hidden implications. Confused, one of them tried to reach out to the girl, but bang! He soon withdrew his hand when Andrew slammed his fist against the table.

“Are you trying to attend this tea party with such a filthy dress? How unsightly.”

“Why don’t you just go home?”

The boys awkwardly looked away. Meanwhile, the girls were grinning at her. The prince was still glaring at the boy who attempted to help her, scowling.

The white-haired girl trembled in despair with no allies in sight.

She seemed so pitiful.

They are all so childish.

Yet, despite how pitiful it seemed; Harrison, whose smile didn’t befit his age, knew better than everyone else—

—It was a prelude of a Cinderella story.

◆◆◆

Ten years had passed since that fateful tea party.

The love story of the clumsy prince and the fairy princess also spanned for that whole decade.

The prince’s foolishness was even worse than Harrison expected, while the fairy princess’ obliviousness was plain hardcore.

“…Thank you for your concern. Of course, I’m fully aware that I can’t bother His Highness. Therefore, to not cause any further disturbance for everyone, I shall take my cue and leave.”

—Wha! I, I see… Well, I’m glad to hear you’re self-aware. Witch, your somber hair and eyes are bothering everyone.”

“I understand. Thank you very much for your advice.”

One night at a school dance party, Harrison shrugged as he overheard their exchange.

Once again, Lithia’s took Andrew’s awkward invitation at face value and left the venue as it was.

He knew the prince was just hiding his embarrassment the first time he heard it, but Lithia always took him seriously.

Those foolish women taking jabs at her was awful, but how did she fail to notice that the prince always personally invited her at every gathering? His clumsy method aside, he was also openly jealous whenever another man approached her. Yet, Lithia didn’t realize this—for ten whole years.

Just how dense could one be?

Haa… Well, it isn’t like His Highness is making it any easier for the both of them.”

Harrison sighed as Lithia tearfully passed by him.

He could understand why. To be despised by her beloved prince, how it must have saddened her! Although he wanted to reassure her that it was just a baseless worry, he knew it wasn’t his place to do so. Therefore, he could only wish that the lovestruck prince would do his best to court the oblivious girl.

“Now, Your Highness, with that loathsome witch gone, shall we dance?”

“No, dance with me first! I was the one who shooed her away!”

Look at them…

They harassed the prince’s beloved, unaware that the prince scorned them to the fullest. The two were the prince’s fiancée candidates, and they honestly believed the prince felt something for them.

“I can see why she’s the chosen one…”

Thus, Harrison concluded the reason why the prince chose Lithia was due to her humility. After all, she couldn’t even see the depths of his love.

 ◆◆◆

I never saw it coming.

Suddenly, a nobody barged into their clumsy, long-standing romance.

“Hey, Transfer Student.”

“Do you need something?”

During dance class, despite the intervention from both Prince Andrew and the teacher, the transfer student still took Lithia’s hand. To top it off, he also didn’t care about his surroundings.

Geo Wales, originating from the downtown, he had a history of working with a merchant. However, he was accepted into the academy due to wielding the rare attribute of light.

Perhaps because he was a commoner, he was wholly ignorant with indirect expressions and the custom of reading between the lines of the nobles. Out of patience, Andrew directly told him that he’d dance with Lithia—only to be rejected.

He was such a wild card.

“Didn’t you see how angry His Highness was? I won’t go into details, but don’t get involved with that ugly, white-haired witch any further.”

“—You got the wrong person. Let’s go Lithia.”

“Hey, wait, hold on—!”

Geo wrapped his hand around the fairy princess, before scooting away. Who do you think you are? That man was truly daft!

Ten years ago, most people were oblivious because they were children. But now, without being told, all the boys at that academy had noticed the prince’s clumsy feelings, along with the fairy princess’ wistful gaze at the prince. We all wished that the two would finally come together.

“…I see. You really don’t understand anything. Listen, there’re underlying circumstances as to why His Highness acted like that. I’ll explain from the beginning, so come with me.”

“Nope.”

“What!?”

An orphaned commoner couldn’t possibly stand up against a dazzling prince. Besides, the former would just make for a tasteless romance.

Thus, I intended to reprimand the pitiful man who was a borderline stalker at that point. With that, he’d stop imposing himself on the couple.

It was rude of me, but it seemed that I had no choice but to lay out the prince’s true feelings and the fairy princess’ secret feelings.

“Why do I need to know the reason he’s calling her ugly? Even without knowing, I already know it’s wrong! It’s not worth listening to!”

“Huh, what…?”

But Geo Wale’s words were completely unexpected. Also, why was he framing Harrison as the villain?

He pretends to be a hero, even though all he does is meddle in the love affairs of others.

Somehow, Harrison still found it in him to be sympathetic towards Geo. Surely, in the near future, when the prince and the fairy princess resolved their misunderstandings and became a couple in the truest sense of words, this commoner would be greatly embarrassed.

Harrison wanted to explain it to him for his own sake.

“As if I’d listen! Let’s go, Lithia!”

“Yes. Good day, Sir Baldwin.”

“H-hey! Wait, just wait, hold on—!”

In the meantime, the shameless man took the prince’s beloved and left.

“…Dammit! He should get kicked by a horse!”

…Alright, I give up.

Harrison finally let it go. After all, that man had made his own bed.

***T/N: Who’s going to tell this guy that a commoner x prince/ princess/ aristocrat is a long-running trope?

Also, she deserves that as* of a prince because she’s humble and pure? “No wonder she’s the chosen one”???????? What about the prince himself? If not for his title and how people see him as the supposed male lead, he’d just be a plain as*hole with no redeeming features whatsoever! Why does someone has to keep themselves docile, humble, innocent, and pure for such a trash!?
