The Best is Saved for Last [Chapter 6]

Chapter Six: I Opened an Unknown Door (In Many Ways)

Time went by peacefully. I came of age in this new world, and my husband and I agreed to have a small and private wedding. I wore a pure, white dress, and my head was decorated with matching flowers as I walked down the aisle next to him.

We stood in front of the chief priest and made our pledges. My husband rolled up my veil to reveal my face. His eyes met mine, and we smiled at each other. He bent slightly and kissed my forehead. I was a little dissatisfied with the forehead kiss. However, it didn’t matter. I had become the wife of Earl Gilberto Schweitzer of Greeden.

Two hours after the dinner party, which served as the reception in this world, I was still eagerly waiting for my husband on the bed in our bedroom. We were going to share this bed and this room for the rest of our lives.

I was wearing a nightgown that was as pure and white as my wedding dress. The lace, although modest, was elegant. It was really short, even for me. The maids had spent three days making everything perfect, and they had succeeded.

However, it all came down to whether or not my husband could really do it, and if he wanted to do it. There was no way of asking him what he desired. Nevertheless, this was a very suitable night for it to finally happen.

On the other hand, even if he was willing to do it, one mistake could derail it all. Just one wrong statement from an overly-chatty maid could ruin everything. Thankfully, such a blunder was beneath the maids of the Earl’s mansion. Judging by the quality and style of the nightgown, it was clear that they were rooting for me. The gown was designed to fall off easily so as to motivate my husband.

Nevertheless, it all came down to his decision and ability. As much as I wanted him to take my virginity, I knew I would be powerless if it were physically impossible for him to have sex with me. Theoretically, I knew how to serve a man and motivate him. Still, I had never had any practical experience, and there weren’t many tips suited for our peculiar situation. I was scared of negatively affecting his performance with my lack of experience.

If all failed, I was willing to settle for sleeping in his arms. Sleeping off in a cuddle would be heavenly. My heart pounded with anticipation of his arrival as Martha called out from behind the door that he was coming.

She knocked on the door when he was a few steps away, and I replied affirmatively as I got off the bed and sat down on the small sofa beside it. I waited impatiently for a few seconds. It felt like an eternity. I finally heard another knock on the bedroom door.

My heart skipped a beat, but I managed to regain my composure and reply in a calm tone, “Please, come in.”

The door opened slowly. I stood up and stared in anticipation at the light coming in from the corridor as I tried to keep cool and calm.

“Miss Nako, were you awake?”

“Yes,” I replied. My husband placed the light he was holding on the table. His hair, which was loosely tied behind the back of his head, was slightly damp and smelled like soap. A drop of water was about to fall off his hair when he suddenly ran his hand through it. He raked it up with his fingers in a gesture that I found immensely cute. I could help myself. He was too sexy. I got flustered by his irresistible allure.

“Miss Nako,” he called my name with his soft, creamy voice. I tried to control myself as I watched my husband sit on the bed where I had been sitting a while ago. The cracking sound of the bed’s spring echoed throughout the room, forcing my heart to leap up and down. I couldn’t take my eyes off him. I watched his every move as his cobalt-blue eyes enchanted me.

“Come here,” he beckoned.

I couldn’t control my emotions anymore. Tears welled up in my eyes. My head got dizzy, and my back and waist felt broken. My husband tilted his head slightly as his smile deepened. My legs felt like jelly, and I had to put my hand on the table for support. However, I was determined to get to him, even if that meant crawling on all fours.

I finally reached him, and as I stared into his beautiful eyes, the usual difference in our heights disappeared. Fever rose within me as I struggled to breathe properly.

“Do you mind if I hold you?” he asked in a sweet, husky voice that was like honey trickling down my ears and flowing to the rhythm of my every breath. I couldn’t believe it. I was expecting this, but it was actually happening, and I found it overwhelming. My husband lowered his eyebrows slightly and gave me a somewhat bitter, self-deprecating smile.

“As I said before, I think we should stick to a white marriage,” he said as he gently embraced me.

“My husband,” I whispered as he held on to me tightly, drowning my words in his chest as I panted. He wasn’t done talking.

“But to tell you the truth, you are too attractive,” he admitted as he traced the small of my back with the pads of his fingers. A surge of electric current ran through my spine, forcing me to let out a soft moan. I felt every pore of my body open up for the sole purpose of receiving him.

It wasn’t unpleasant, and I was determined to do it, so I clung tightly to his neck and whispered into his ear, “Please, take me.”

I couldn’t see his face, but I could feel him break into a smile. I trusted him totally, and I wasn’t scared.

“You are so adorable,” he murmured as his fingers unhooked the strap of my nightclothes. The ribbon slipped off slowly, exposing my back. He gently kissed my shoulder and sent a tickling sensation through the entirety of my body.

Yes, it was my first experience, but it didn’t hurt at all. To be honest, it was so comfortable that I couldn’t remember the details, only the feeling. All I can remember is that on that night, I opened a lot of new doors and let an ocean of pleasure flood in.

I woke up the next morning to the sound of birds singing slowly. My body was unusually dull, and my back was intensely heavy. I knew that my body was supposed to hurt, but I didn’t expect some parts to hurt more than others. I wondered if it was because I put a lot of energy into the muscle at the base of my foot.

“Nako,” the gentle voice of my husband said. My heart leaped while my hips softened. I wasn’t sure if my ears had put on some filters, but somehow his voice sounded louder and younger than usual.

“Are you feeling sick?” he asked with concern. “Yesterday, you were so adorable that I’m afraid that I might have overdone it.”

“Well, it’s all right,” I replied.

I looked up to meet his gaze, and what I saw shocked me to the core. I froze. Lying next to me was a fair-haired, handsome man who smiled down at me with his hair falling carelessly on his forehead. He was a handsome young man with a fine figure, unbalanced pair of eyes, and a straight nose. His lips were perfect, neither too thick nor too thin, and his physique was shaped like an arc.

“Th— That’s— My husband?” I stammered as I struggled to find the words to create a question. He stopped patting my head, and his smile deepened.

“Oh, I am glad that you recognized me,” he replied.

His eyes were gently squinting like a deep sea. It became clear to me that the man lying next to me was my husband indeed. Only he had such beautiful eyes that seemed to draw me in every time. And the way he stroked my head so softly and calmly made it obvious. Only my husband could stroke my head the way he did.

However, I couldn’t help being scared. I stared at him stiffly as panic took over my mind. He hugged me from behind with the sheets wrapped around me. I relaxed as I felt his familiar warmth, and his intoxicating smell filled my nostrils. I rubbed my cheek against his chest as my body surrendered to his love.

“I woke up earlier than you, so I have done a little bit of thinking. I think this is your ability.”

“What?”

For a moment, I had forgotten about the situation. But as I rubbed my eyes and looked at him again, reality came crashing in.

“Rejuvenating by the exchange of body fluids or sexual intercourse,” he pointed out.

“What? Oh.” I blinked at him in confusion. That didn’t make sense. I didn’t want to believe that I was cursed with such a shameful ability. I wondered if this was the exceptional ability that the prime minister mentioned back when I was summoned. If this was it, then I didn’t want it. For a moment, an image of the prime minister dancing with joy appeared in my mind. I quickly made him disappear by shooting an arrow at him. I was a married woman, and I didn’t care for this stupid ability. I really didn’t want it. I hated it from the bottom of my heart.

“It may start getting noisy from now on,” he muttered under his breath as he slowly stroked my hair. I was startled by his words, but he was right. It was undoubtedly going to get noisy. Even in this world, only a few people could use magic. Therefore, rejuvenation was a very unusual power, and people were bound to be surprised. I knew that there was a high possibility of them rejecting it and tagging it as a bad omen.

“I’m sorry for the inconvenience,” I said as I realized that my husband must be going through a lot himself. “Are you all right? Are you feeling well?”

It was rather difficult to simply be happy that my husband had suddenly morphed from a brilliantly-aged man to a handsome young man.

“Nako,” he called to me softly. “You worry too much. I am happy.”

“My husband?”

“I still don’t know if this figure is temporary or permanent. However, I would no longer feel uncomfortable standing next to you.” His face was unusually expressive, and his lips twisted into a strange posture. He was so cute, and I loved him. He gave my emotion so much power that I felt energized. However, it was clear that he was worried about something. He hunched his shoulders and looked at me.

I was worried about him. He still had the habits of an old man. He tried to caress his jaw, and he found that his beards were gone. He looked at me and smiled. Instead of saying anything, he simply hugged me. The feeling of his arms around me was enough to put me at peace.
