The 800-Year-Old Villainess Translation

80: Thus, the Fateful Fireworks Began

The evening of the final day of the school festival.

“Well, we’ll just watch from the clock tower.”

“Yes, leave it to us!”

After setting everything up, Cecily and Mark went to the clock tower, leaving the rest to the juniors.

Huh? Me?

Of course, after Anita did my makeup for me that afternoon, I gave control of my body to Cecily!

[Nora… am I really going to climb the clock tower with Mark?]

Shall I take your place? I’ll passionately kiss him the moment the fireworks go off!

[No, absolutely not!!]

So, Cecily assumed control of her body without a hitch.

However, there was no conversation between the two as they climbed the spiral staircase.

If anyone were to ask me, the atmosphere didn’t seem bad. They were both fidgety and nervous, and Mark seemed to be slowing down his pace as he glanced at Cecily.

Just watching them made my heart race.

What if they really kiss?! What then?! I don’t want to be a Peeping Tom…

Maybe I should peer at them from as far away as possible. Argh! I should’ve gotten some crystals from Eivind and develop some recording equipment!

While I was fidgeting, the two were more than halfway up the stairs. Then, Mark spoke.

“Today… you look prettier than usual.”

“Eh, uh… because I put on makeup?”

Cecily’s face was red, and I was sure it wasn’t because of the sunset!

“Did you put on makeup for me?”

Cecily silently nodded at the question.

Aah! So cute! So cute!

I felt so bad for monopolizing this excitement all to myself!

[Nora… can you please stop fussing next to me?]

Should I give you some space?

[No, stay close.]

And so, before we knew it, we reached the top.

As expected of a famous clock tower, it was quite spacious. Some people had already arrived. There were roughly twenty groups of people on the observation deck, each looking out the window, drinking and spending time however they liked.

Hmm, it’s pretty noisy. This crowd is ruining the romantic atmosphere.

“Lady Travasta, this way.”

“Huh?”

Mark took Cecily’s hand and floated up into the air.

Flying through the sky with a prince holding your hand was just so romantic! Moreover, he was a magician who had been accepted into the Royal Institute of Magic! So, his levitation magic was more than safe!

As the surrounding students let out small cheers, he gently lowered Cecily onto the rooftop at the top of the bell tower.

“Sorry if you aren’t good with high places.”

“No… it’s okay.”

How romantic! How princely of you, Prince Mark!

He neatly placed his jacket where Cecily would be sitting, before casually wrapping his arm around her waist. He reassured her, saying, “Don’t worry, I won’t drop you.”

Ah! No good! I’m so excited, I feel like I’m going to fall off the roof! Even though I’m just a soul!

However, unlike me, Cecily seemed stable, and showed no signs of slipping—which was unfortunate.

I sat skillfully on the roof. The sun seemed to have set in the blink of an eye.

The fireworks were set to go off when the bell rang to signal the end of the after-party.

“I wonder if the fireworks will be a success?”

“It’ll be fine. If not, let’s make fireworks together again next year.”

“But I—”

Mark had already received an offer for employment from the Royal Institute of Magic. Cecily, on the other hand, had no future in sight.

She was probably confused by their futures not intersecting. But Mark’s words were very powerful.

“Even if you didn’t participate in the internship, that doesn’t make you ineligible from taking the entrance exam. I think you have the ability.”

Well, just between you and me…

Of course I intended to force Cecily into the Royal Institute of Magic. She was so curious about it. Moreover, she had the talent and a decent among of knowledge. I had seen her creativity when she came up with the application for fireworks at that lab.

As such, there was no way that Mark, who was researching with her, wouldn’t know that.

“Me too… My brother suddenly called me recently… Looks like I’ll be commuting back and forth between the lab and the castle after I graduate. I think it’ll be very hectic… Even so, I still want you by my side.”

Mark gently placed his hand on top of Cecily’s, which she had placed on the roof to prevent herself from falling.

“I wonder how do you feel about me?”

Here it comes!

The two of them looked at each other. I could almost hear their heartbeats.

Amid all of this, the bell rang.

With that as a signal, the fireworks were set off.

At first, they were colorless, but soon became bright large flowers. Even as they crumbled, turning into a rain of light that poured down without losing their shape, the cheers of the students only resounded louder throughout the school.

So, the two of them turned their attention to the fireworks. With their hands together, they were entranced by the flowers of light.

“How beautiful…”

“Yes, they are.”

As the fireworks echoed, resonating in their hearts, the two of them didn’t say anything anymore. However, they never let go of each other’s hands.

Then, at that moment.

“Will you be my lover?”

A sweet, masculine voice that sounded familiar.

There seemed to be another guest on the tallest spire.

“Eh?”

Cecily and Mark must’ve noticed the voice too. They looked at each other, then climbed higher up roof with the fireworks behind them. Then, a little further ahead, there was a person.

[Nora! Don’t look! Nora!!]

Cecily desperately called out to me to stop.

But it was easier to move around in my spirit form now, and the footing was poor.

Even though I was told not to look, I couldn’t help myself.

Then, I saw the sight of Eivind Dahl kissing Hana Field.
