The Genius “Incompetent” Woman Wants to be a Villain ~a Lady who Married in the place of her Stepsister is Unaware of the Doting Duke’s Love Translation

147: His True Purpose

POV: Dylan

Meanwhile, Dylan and the others had confirmed that the Victoria had docked and were in a hurry.

“Apparently, there’s a hidden room in the Second-Class Cabin Area that can be opened with this key! Check it out, but do be careful. Don’t go in until we’re ready.”

“Understood.”

While Dylan was talking with his aides, Teresa and Thomas, still tied to chairs, were put on a cart and carried out. They looked completely frustrated. After all, they were going to be arrested.

Afterward, Chris returned to the room and told them with a grim look on his face.

“Lord Dylan. Apparently, some strange activities have been reported at the hotel in Coil, the where the former duke usually stays.”

“What?”

“I had reserved that hotel for tonight, but by coincidence, the former duke has been staying there since last night. More importantly, here’s the issue: a telegram was sent to the former duke from the Victoria. Apparently, he’ll be arriving at the port soon.”

“What? What’s in the telegram?”

“It said that a mistress will be sold at the port. The item listed was the Ultimate Villainess.

“…What does that even mean?”

Dylan, who had been moving in a hurry, froze. The search for Avril was a race against time, so he had to stay collected. But suddenly, he lost his composure.

Avril was nowhere to be found. And then, there was a telegram reading, “selling a villainess.” No matter how he looked at it, it had to be about Avril!

Dylan stormed out of the room and spoke to Chris, who had followed him, as he walked.

“The law of this country applies from the moment you step off this ship and put your feet on the ground. Tell the people waiting at the port to thoroughly check the disembarking passengers, and to apprehend any suspicious people. I’ll come after I explain the situation to the messenger from Prince Lawrence.”

“Understood.”

What Thomas Edgar was trying to hide wasn’t drugs, but this…!

***

Meanwhile, Avril was in a box and being transported on a cart.

She kept quiet for the time being.

Of course, she did consider that if she made a fuss while being transported, someone might help her before the deal could be made with the former duke.

But she was up against a group of armed criminals. Moreover, she also couldn’t see outside from inside the box. Thus, she concluded that it’d be best not to make any rash moves. Avril tended to say what was exactly on her mind, but she desperately tried to keep her mouth shut.

By the way, the cart seemed to be traveling on a bumpy road. Perhaps, it was traveling over a cobblestone road. Her head and shoulders were bumping against various things inside the box, which hurt.

Ouch, that hurts! At this rate, my face will get so bruised and swollen that it’ll be hard to tell who I am! Even though my face is already covered in soot!

Kathy and the others were overjoyed at the mere fact that Avril had styled the hair of the captured women, “making them more valuable.” So why couldn’t they make the inside of the transport box more comfortable as well?

As Avril was thinking that, the wheels screeched as her cart came into a halt. Even from inside the box, it was clear that the atmosphere was different from the previous place.

Not a single breeze could be heard, and sounds echoed unnaturally. They seemed to coming in from outside. The lid of the wooden box was opened, and light streamed into the pitch-black interior.

The brightness made her squint her eyes, unable to see anything. Then, Avril heard a familiar voice.

“…It’s black.”

True.
