6.6 The Struggle of a Reincarnated Marquis’ Daughter
His smiling lips were certainly elegant and noble, and his eyes were so clear that I was almost drawn in.
“Hm? Oh, even in the hallucinatory world, there’s a code of honor that must be observed.”
Breathing heavily, Alfred wiped the blood that had spilled from the corner of his mouth with the back of his hand.
“Once upon a time, there was a stubborn man. He was too righteous, perhaps you could say he was a good man.”
“Hee. The hallucinatory world is also difficult in many ways.”
Alfred smiled. Well, he’d been smiling for a while, but it only deepened.
His complicated feelings were conveyed to me, even though I didn’t understand them.
“How are you feeling.”
“Oh, I’m well, don’t worry. How do I say this? I’m simply recharging my energy.”
I made an ‘ohoho’ face, but I didn’t have the energy to laugh.
“I see. Then, I’ll go ahead and do it.”
“Huh?”
From there, Lord Alfred’s illusion moved swiftly and smoothly.
He climbed onto the bed and picked me. I was sagging as if I didn’t have a spine. Then, he sat cross-legged and placed me on top of his lap.
He embraced me tightly, and when I gently complained, “This is too sudden,” he hugged me even tighter.
Through the damp fabric from his light sweat, I could feel his burly chest, and my heart automatically felt full.
Thus, I buried my face against Alfred’s thick chest and stayed still for a while. Saying, ‘Lord Alfred’s illusion’ was a mouthful.
Alfred caressed my head as I did so.
“You’ve lost weight.”
Alfred let out a long, shallow breath.
“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you the important thing—the most important thing, and left you in the dark.”
As expected of a hallucination, I couldn’t quite grasp what he was saying.
But I could tell that he seemed to be carrying some kind of due. Well, I had some dues too.
What should I say? Or rather, what am I trying to say…?
