After sending Avril back to the cabin early, Dylan and Chris returned to the main dining hall. The welcome party was being held there.

They stood by the wall, pretending to be a pair of gentlemen making small talk. In truth, they were carefully observing the venue.

“That’s the man from earlier—Thomas Edgar. What is he up to?”

“He has been walking around, trying to engage in business discussions with various aristocrats and wealthy people. He calls himself a merchant, so it isn’t that strange.”

“Yes, but the discussions themselves must be fishy.”

“The kind that would never be brought up to Viscount Brough and his wife, a newlywed couple that was so embarrassing to watch.”

“…”

Dylan’s expression twitched at Chris’ words. Even though they were surrounded by many people, he couldn’t hide his dissatisfaction at the words of this younger aide. Incidentally, he was also upset.

“…About earlier.”

“She probably didn’t have any intention of doing so, but she played the role of a villainess who toys with her husband perfectly.”

“…”

He agreed with Chris. Dylan had pretty much decided how he’d behave there today, but he ended up getting caught up in Avril’s pace.

“I am never bored with her…”

It had been almost two hours since they had entered the venue. The guests were drinking and the party was getting even livelier.

The party would be ending soon, but there still was no sign of Teresa. Perhaps, she hadn’t attended it in the first place. In that case, he’d have to search elsewhere.

“The next place to check would be the party in the Second-Class cabin area.”

“Indeed. According to the reports, a casual get-together is being held in the dining room downstairs. Changing your attire might be better so you don’t attract any attention.”

“You’re right. Let’s head back to our room for now.”

Thus, Dylan and Chris left the main dining hall.

—When Dylan returned, he found a panicked Grace waiting for him in the cabin.

“M-my Lord, I’m sorry. I lost sight of Lady Avril when I left to get some late night snacks from the restaurant.”

“For Avril to suddenly disappear just like that…”

As Grace apologized frantically, Dylan couldn’t help but stare into the distance. Avril was always erratic and had a penchant for the unpredictable.

He knew that if he left her alone, she’d usually go off somewhere or do something unexpected. Most of the time, it was something beyond his imagination, too.

“She left a note.”

Grace handed him a simple letter. It read, “I’m going to the Second-Class cabin.”

Avril was incredibly airheaded and naïve, but she was also smart. Normally, she’d have written more detail. Since that wasn’t the case, someone must had been waiting for her.

“Did someone invite her out?”

“Uhm, the truth is, the door to the sunroom in the hallway was left open. I don’t know if it was Lady Avril, but around the time of the welcome party, there shouldn’t have been anyone there.”

“…I see. Is there anything missing from the room?”

“The bag carrying all the medicines has disappeared. I also couldn’t find the comb that was supposed to be in the front of the dresser.”

“Grace is as skilled as her master.”

After Dylan replied, Grace bowed her head with a gloomy expression. She had been waiting there to tell Dylan, and she seemed to be quite worried.

“It’s only been a few minutes since she disappeared, right? It’d be bad if she ran into Teresa. Teressa seems harbors a grudge towards Avril.”

“That’s right. Let’s split up and look for her.”
