Extra 24.1 A Story set in the Distant Future
- A/N: Please treat this as a fanfiction rather than canon
My name was Andre Oscar, I was the best heir in the world~
Even though I was the best heir in the world, I was still 16 years old. I was still growing. I’d be able to fulfil my future Noblesse Oblige by eating well, sleeping well, and studying harder than anyone else at a school attended by many students.
Hence why I took initiative even in doing odd jobs. Even though I was the heir of the Oscar Group, I was just a low-ranking member of the student council at Eclairdia Academy.
I was carrying a mountain of documents to the advisor. I wished all the documents would hurry up and be digitized… The student council and teachers were both short on time, and even in this day and age, we still wrote documents on paper.
How inefficient.
I considered using my own money to hire personnel and overhaul the system.
Nevertheless, I was still a low-ranking member of the student council.
If I got too involved, I’d end up bringing shame upon the student council president who was attending school on a scholarship. For now, I was just supporting him. These hardships would also help me achieve a bright future!
“Excuse me! Is Teacher Nameless here?”
As I entered the staff room, all the teachers turned to look at me.
Look! I’m Andre Oscar! The world’s greatest heir!
Among them, I spotted the white-haired teacher with the most somber expression—Teacher Nameless.
As soon as he saw me, his golden eyes behind his glasses turned cold and he let out a sigh.
“I’ve told you many times to keep your voice down when you come into staff room.”
“I’m sorry about that! It seems that my heir aura isn’t something I can hide!”
“Good grief… You’re the same as always.”
Teacher Nameless was a very funny person.
He was a superhuman teacher who had won every chemistry award in the world, and also had a high reputation as a soldier. However, he usually pretended to be a cold and ruthless teacher, albeit it didn’t fool the other teachers and students.
Apparently, he did that because his wife told him he lacked dignity as a teacher. And yet, since he was quick to reveal his true colors, he ended up being seen as a funny guy.
At the same time, it was also a charm that endeared him to many students. He’d become one of the teachers I respected. But when I placed the documents on his desk, Teacher Nameless sighed again.
“You want me to sign these documents too? Aren’t you pushing yourself a bit too hard?”
“But these are all documents related to the cultural festival that you came up with. Here’s the application for the facilities, the application for the paintings we plan to borrow from the National Museum, and here’s the band we’ll have for the dance party—”
“Oh, that’s right. Sorry, I’ll bring them back tomorrow, so please submit them to each facility together with the chairman.”
“Okay! Leave it to the world’s best heir, Andre-Oscar!”
“Ah, you’re always so energetic…”
At that moment, something could be heard vibrating from beside Teacher Nameless. It came from the pocket of his white coat.
As soon as he saw the screen of the portable communication device, Teacher Nameless’ expression twisted with a, “Huh?”
So, I asked him.
“What’s wrong?”
“Oh… no, it’s from my wife…”
As he spoke, he started tapping away on his mobile phone under his desk, even though he was at work.
“I mean, this is just… She’s suddenly saying she wants to eat freshly fried donuts… but I have overtime today. Huh? You want me to fry them in the middle of the night? What? I have to stay up and wait for them to be done! That’s just too much pressure!”
It seemed like the reply was coming back in real time.
Judging from his monologue(?), it seemed that the teacher was under his wife’s thumb, just as rumored.
Rumor had it that his wife singlehandedly revived a humble falling shop in the outskirts of town intobeing a global online shop. Moreover, despite having black hair, which was often unpopular in today’s world, she seemed to be able to deal with many landowners and corporate leaders on an equal footing. She didn’t care about the rules and ties of high society. Apparently, her presence alone could make an entire venue blossom, but I’d never seen her in action. She retired shortly before I was born.
She now seemed to be running her online business leisurely in her hometown.
…Huh? Hometown?
Didn’t Teacher Nameless’ wife ordered him to make donuts tonight? Eclairdia Academy was in the capital, so it’d take an hour to get there even by private jet…
Well, I must’ve heard wrong! I’m not the type to fuss about small details. But as the heir of the world’s greatest family, I need to see the big picture!
So, I decided to ask something that could be useful in the future.
“Excuse me for asking this question, but why did you marry her? What do you like about your wife?” I asked enthusiastically.
“That’s so sudden…”
I had a fiancée too, but I didn’t know when or where I’d be asked to arrange a date for a friend.
In such a situation, it was the Noblesse Oblige of a nobleman to introduce said friend to the most beautiful woman possible!
“…Her soul?”
“That’s deep.”
I was stunned by the answer.
Is that… some kind of metaphor…?
As I was deep in thought, Teacher Nameless frowned in confusion.
“Well, it was too sudden, uh, I don’t mind if I’m the only person she can be selfish with… and because it’ll come to an end someday, now is the only time I can listen to these casual selfish requests. Who knows what’ll happen over the next thousands of years if I wait for the next one.”
