268: The Battle Maiden Wants to Study Abroad (31)
It’s windy today.
Clouds drifted along with the sound of fanfare.
At the highest point of the tiered spectator seats, Hades narrowed his eyes as he watched the students make their entrance. First entered the Purple Dragon Class, then the Blue Dragon Class, and finally the Gold Dragon Class.
That’s a good march, for students.
However, compared to the rest, the Blue Dragon Class Jill was in charge of looked shabby. While the others were lightly armed, they only had their uniforms. Moreover, they weren’t allowed to use dragons. No matter how one looked at it, they were at a disadvantage.
There doesn’t seem to be that much of a difference in magical power either.
Still, Jill had determined they could win. As long as the students could keep up, then victory would be theirs.
“The Saber family is said to be the strongest in small-scale guerilla warfare… My in-laws are scary…”
“There you are, Hades. I just finished patrolling. No strange movements so far.”
Like a true Dragon God, Rave returned from the sky.
“The dragons are only vaguely aware that a flute with a stronger dragon-repelling effect has been created recently. But a flute that can control dragons… I wonder if such a thing is even possible…”
The principal’s grandiose greeting conveniently hid Hades’ voice from those around him.
“We’re supposed to use the uprising today to confirm that, right? How’s Jill?”
“Everything is going as planned. She received the lunch box without any suspicion.”
“There’s no way she’d be suspicious. As long as she has her lunch, Jill wouldn’t complain even if I wasn’t there.”
“Except, she said she wanted to see you.”
Hades looked at Rave with a serious expression.
Rave continued, also keeping his expression serious. “Little Miss looked really lonely. Poor girl.”
“…I see.”
Hades was the same. Turning red, he covered his face with both hands, groaning. “Mo-more importantly, Jill is always like that…! Why can’t she ever say anything like this to me!?”
“Probably because you weren’t there.”
“Th-that’s not fair! Jill’s the one who left me behind in the first place, and for two whole months! And now she acts like this…! I-I’m not going to forgive her so easily! I have to show my dignity as her husband for once!”
Hades clenched his fists as he glared at the students Jill had been training.
“Not to mention, Jill is unfair. She didn’t come back until today, and has been playing around with young men all this time.”
“Ahh, well, she’s at fault for that, but it’s not like she was playing around. You could at least phrase it better…”
“I won’t be deceived. I just know Jill has gotten closer to those boys, and some of them must admire her, or have innocent crushes on her…!”
Jill was strong, but she was also a kind and adorable girl. She was deeply compassionate. Her occasional airheaded nature only added to her charm, complementing her strength. As a teacher, she would never abandon her students.
A wonderful girl like her had been eating and sleeping alongside a group of immature and emotionally driven boys. Just what kind of misunderstands could have arisen?
Yes, eating and living together. Eating meals, staying up late, maybe even having pillow fights, could they even have gone as far as changing clothes together? What about bathing—just imagining it made his golden eyes lost focus.
“I’ll kill them…”
“Hey, don’t kill people over your own delusions. Where’s your dignity as her husband?”
That’s right.
Hades clicked his tongue and readjusted his posture, leaning forward to observe the students. At the frontof the Blue Dragon Class stood a boy. My younger brother?
He had grown accustomed to having older brothers, an older sisters, and younger sisters, but this was his first time having a younger brother.
I wonder what it’s like. Would he be different from my sisters? I’m still nervous when I speak to Natalie and Frida, so I wouldn’t know how to interact with my younger brother.
Moreover, his little brother seemed to have an unpleasant personality that caused trouble for Jill. Jill said that she’d rehabilitate him for, Hades’ sake.
“…There’s no way I’ll lose! I’m definitely more troublesome than him!”
“…Should you be happy winning that competition?”
“I’m happy with anything as long as I’m number one to Jill.”
Ah, right. Hades pursed his lips upon seeing Rave’s exasperation. Such a reaction was only natural.
As the principal’s speech concluded, the Purple Dragon Class left the venue. Now, it was time for the opening act, the showdown between the Gold Dragon Class and the Blue Dragon Class. As the Gold Dragon Class had to mount their dragons, they needed more time to prepare. In the meantime, the Blue Dragon Class could hide or take an advantageous position within the vast terrain.
However, the Blue Dragon Class took up a position in the middle of the open field, not using any of the terrain to their advantage. They even placed their blue flag, something that only needed to be toppled to be defeated, in an open place. Then, as if to declare themselves ready, they formed a tight circle and stopped moving.
The audience, who had initially been focused on the Gold Dragon Class, took notice of the unusual strategy of the Blue Dragon Class and began to spread murmurs amongst themselves
“Hey, Hades. Their positioning makes their flag an easy target, doesn’t it?”
“Yes, it’s bait. This formation leaves the Gold Dragon Class no choice but to directly charge them. They’ll have limited direction to attack and approach. They intend to have a swift and decisive battle—as expected of my wife.”
The Gold Dragon Class placed the golden flag in a place closest to the spectators. Then, their leader stepped forward and cried out to the dignitaries watching from above.
“Pledge of oath!”
