14.1: Hacking Away at Bastards
“Y-you pushed all the house chores onto your sister?”
“A dumpster house? Such a beautiful woman?”
The people around were agitated. Arisa blushed for a moment, but quickly switched to victim mode.
“H-how horrible, telling such a lie…! I didn’t do anything! Everyone, please believe me!”
The people all looked at each other. It seemed that they’d decided to believe the beautiful Alicia rather than the insolent me.
“I was almost fooled. Everyone, don’t believe the fake saint’s words!”
“How could you tell such a lie? The fake saint is the worst!”
“Aren’t you family?! Why are you so heartless toward the real saint?!”
Even though you don’t know anything…
Those outsiders thought they knew everything, when in reality, they just sided with the one they deemed most pitiful. Acting all self-righteous while spouting nonsense… how foolish.
“Everyone, it’s alright. I’m used to being treated like this by you, Older Sister. Still, I’ve heard everything from Her Highness. The people of the kingdom are suffering, and yet, you refuse to listen to Her Highness? Why aren’t you helping everyone…?”
“They demanded free labor after forcibly summoning me here? How does that make any sense? I have no reason to follow unfair orders. Had they presented reasonable conditions from the start and treated me with courtesy, I’d have used my powers.”
“How could you ask for something in return? That’s just despicable! Isn’t it natural for human beings to help those in need?”
“That’s rich, coming from you. In our original world, you didn’t even raise your own children. You just kept pushing everything onto me, never helping no matter how hard it got for me. You’re so shameless.”
“Older Sister, why do you lie like that? Are you trying to frame me? How terrible…”
“I’m not lying. Besides, seeing that you also came to this world… are your children alright?”
That’s the only thing I’ve really been concerned with since coming to this world…
“Ugh, my former husband took them away. He’s so cruel…”
“What?! That’s such a relief…! So, they’re finally free from your clutches! You only thought of them as future caretakers, anyway!”
I patted my chest in heartfelt relief, and Arisa stiffened. Those around us started to get restless again.
“How can a mother having her children were taken away!”
“The fake saint is just as cruel as ever!”
How noisy. Alright, I’ll teach them.
“How dare you judge me when you don’t know anything about us! Let me remind you, you’re the ones who kidnapped us from our world! You separated us from our mother! How are you any different?!”
“What…?”
Everyone was gawking.
Arisa burst into tears. “Older Sister, why are you being so cruel…?! I’m so sad…”
Just as she was about to make me out as the worst bully again, as per usual, someone shot a sharp, murderous glare toward Arisa.
“Shut up… not another word. How dare you mock Lady Mia…” Voldred growled.
“W-what? Who are you?”
“I’m Lady Mia’s knight, Voldred. She’s my benefactor. I won’t forgive anyone who slanders her.”
“No way… you’re being deceived by Older Sister!”
“I’m not. Lady Mia’s words have been perfectly reasonable from the beginning. To insult her in such a way… you deserve death.”
Voldred looked as if he was about to pounce Arisa, and the other knights hastily drew their swords at him.
“Knight Captain! Why are you siding with the fake saint?!”
“I thought you were a model knight who’d fight for this kingdom! You’ve failed us!”
“Enough nonsense. The only reason I was made knight captain was because my performance was a bit better than average, but I was nothing more than a cursed puppet.”
The knights had been repeatedly saying things like, “Compared to that wretched fake saint, the real saint is cuter,” and, “The fake saint is the worst.”
“How could you protect such an arrogant woman?! Did she seduce you?! Well… despite her haughtiness, she does look pretty good. I’d like to taste her once… Anyway, you’re no longer of any use to Her Highness the Princess. I’ll relieve you and take the position of the knight captain!”
What a sleazy knight…
The sleazy knight swung his sword at Voldred, clearly aiming to take his life. However, Voldred dodged it with ease. Just as he was about to draw his sword—
“Stop, don’t fight!”
