The 800-Year-Old Villainess Translation

74: The Incorrigible Villainess

Breathing heavily, Neria raised her hands and formed a protective barrier around Cecily.

…Come to think of it, Big Sis never bothered to study, yet her natural magic power was enough to impress Papa.

I had always made light of him, but Sveinn was the leading researcher of magic 700 years ago, and the one who proposed modern magical technology. I applauded my Big Sis’ determination to block his attack.

“Good job, Big Sis! Just hang in there for another ten seconds!”

“What?!”

I decided to rely on my Big Sis’ power with all my might!

Sveinn also tried to get rid of Neria, but I was in front of Big Sis, protected by a barrier. Even if he launched an attack, the accuracy and power would be reduced. In the end, he could only curse.

In the meantime, Eivind and I had completed our spell.

“It’s done!”

With my words as the signal, the magical thorns seeped into Sveinn.

It looked very nondescript, but they had certainly gouged his heart, refusing to come out.

He must’ve noticed the strangeness as he fell to the floor.

Widening his eyes, Sveinn clutched his chest.

“Nora, what have you done…?”

“I told you, I bound your soul—”

“—No, you did more than that!!”

I couldn’t stop grinning at Sveinn’s rage.

Of course, I explained it to him in a proud and condescending manner.

“I reversed the curse you placed on the staff of the Royal Institute Magic. Now, it’s been reflected back to the caster.”

“What…?”

“You placed a curse on them, didn’t you? One where they’d die if they went against your country. I turned that curse back on you, from all the researchers.

Now that I had done what I came to do, I explained with a smile while putting my hands together.

“We’re currently researching and developing fireworks at school. Oh, we’re also using the mirroring technique for that. This girl was the one who realized how to use it… Apparently, kids nowadays have been using the technology I invented for fun. I couldn’t be happier.”

Obviously, by ‘this girl,’ I was referring to Cecily.

Even so, this guy didn’t seem to understand how happy and delighted I was… What a shame… Well, not like it was anything new. Whenever I explained my new magic to him back then, he’d always brush it off.

“Fireworks are… just child’s play…”

“I incorporated the art of time travel into said child’s play.”

Well, in the case of fireworks, the imbued magic power was designed to activate in the future, but the one I had casted onto Sveinn was the opposite.

In truth, I really wanted to return his eight hundred years’ worth of curses back to him. But in reality, I could only return the curses placed by the man named Sveinn.

“The king from 500 years ago proposed this method. In other words, it was you, wasn’t it? So, I studied it, applied it a little, and copied the formula you engraved a long time ago in reverse!”

“I wouldn’t call that ‘a little.’

Really? But since I got the idea from your research, this can be called a joint research project that lasted for 800 years. Looks like my feelings and excitement weren’t conveyed after all.

On the contrary, Sveinn was obviously flustered.

“What are you planning to do with me?”

“I told you, I won’t do a thing. It’d be problematic if the king suddenly died, right?”

I slowly approached Sveinn who was sitting on the ground.

Then, I lifted his chin a little.

“So, you should use your remaining time to pass on all your experience and knowledge to your successor?”

Of course, the candidate for his successor was Mark, whose wife would be Cecily.

I won’t force my ideals on her, though.

Anyway, aside from the latter, if it was a swift arrangement, there wouldn’t be any other candidate than Mark. He was his only blood relative.

But I know that even your own son despises you.

I got close to him, close enough that we almost kissed.

“—Then die slowly, alone.” I spat on him.

I quickly let go of his hand and turned on my heels.

Okay, I’ve said everything I wanted to say!

I no longer had any use for an 800-year-old ghost! Yet, he still clung to my leg.

“No, I don’t want to die… I don’t want to die alone…”

“But I’ll be watching you the whole time?”

Honestly, I’m not free of fault.

Certainly, 800 years ago, I treated my fiancé coldly.

If I had been a little more considerate to ordinary people, this tragedy might have never happened.

So, it couldn’t be helped.

I’d be the Incorrigible Villainess you wanted me to be until the end.

“Until you die for good, I’ll be watching over you from somewhere in this world. If you slack off even a bit, I’ll kill you right away.”

So, while you’re struggling in fear, fulfill your destiny as a wise king to the very end.

Yes, this is my version of encouragement for you.

“I don’t want to die! I don’t want to die! I don’t want to die! I don’t want to die!”

Shedding huge droplets of tears, the Wise King, who should be well past his prime, clung pathetically to a student’s legs.

Okay, this is getting annoying.

Maybe I should just kick him…

“You can do whatever you want until the very end—just be afraid of the Incorrigible Villainess, Nora Noz.”

Well, although it’s late into the night, there’s still some time before the sun rises.

I needed to get some sleep, otherwise it’d be bad for Cecily’s skin.

So, I was about to walk out of the throne room. However, Big Sis, who was still peeking cautiously from the door, was visibly shaken.

“What was that about…?”

“Well, a long time ago, there was a word used to describe it, ‘God.’

I gave her a smile and pushed her shoulder, saying, “Why don’t we sleep in the same bed tonight?”

But Big Sis turned around with a pout on her face.

“Now we’re even!”

“Did you owe me something?”

Big Sis started to get pissed at my sincere question, but…

Inwardly, Cecily was smiling happily, so I decided not to pay it much attention.

The sound of a man sobbing could be heard from the throne room in the distance.
